Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"How's it going, Grumpy?"

Ezra knew the best ways to imitiate conversation with Ronan.

More to the point, he knew how to avoid them. He nodded at Chainsaw. "M'lady."

Chainsaw squawked in reply, wings flapping before she settled down on Ronan's shoulder again. Ronan just rolled his eyes.

"Getting in Chainsaw's good graces won't get you in mine." Because he was sure Ezra was trying to do that. Surely he was!

"What do I care?" Ezra replied brightly. "She's the one who might peck me if she doesn't like me."

"Aww, that afraid of a little bird?" he asked, tilting his head. "Probably for the best. You are pretty delicate. She'd probably break a bone."

"Well, I'm certainly more afraid of her than I am of you," Ezra told him, shrugging. "She commands respect. You... I guess you aim at fear but you don't really get there."

Ronan rolled his eyes again.

"Take a hike, Ezra," he said, not really feeling like being entertaining or anything else close to it for him today.

"Does it have to be a hike, or can I saunter off coolly instead?"

He was ever so sorry, Ronan. Except not.

"I don't care," Ronan told him, shaking his head. "Just get away from me. I'm not entertaining you anymore."

He remembered the last time they'd really talked. The stupid alternate universe kids hadn't changed his feelings. He'd been pissed then and he was pissed now.

"Go eat a dick somewhere else."

Ezra raised his eyebrows and for a second there he almost looked disappointed. Well, more like half a second. One fourth. Whatever.

"Oh, we're still doing that," he said, keeping his tone light. "Guess I'll have to take back the invitation I didn't even have time to extend, then."

"I don't believe you were going to extend anything to me," he replied, shaking his head. Chainsaw crawled down his chest and nuzzled against his neck. He reached up and ran a finger along her wings. "You had plenty of time to do that before then and didn't."

"Well, invitation might be too grand a word," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "I was just going to inform you that I was going to be in my room later, in case you wanted to drop by since it's been a while." He waved a hand dismissively before plucking an invisible piece of lint off his lapel above the nametag. "But you're not interested, so never mind."

"You're right, I'm not."

Maybe a part of him was. Couldn't help it. Being alone all the time meant too much time to think and not enough time to outlet his anger and energy into other things.

"I'm probably too dull for you today anyway."

"You don't know that," Ezra replied, shrugging again. Hey, maybe he'd learned something from last time! Or at least could find it in his heart to try and be a little different for once. "I'll still probably be there, regardless." He took a few steps back. "After all, it's my room."

The probability was high.

"We'll see."

He made no promises. Not to anyone.

Ezra expected no promises.

he turned on his heels and wandered off.
