Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You're from California, right?" Hardison asked. "That's pretty far to go for school."

Which might have been a major determining factor, really.

"It is," Cosima agreed. "I just ... honestly, I started looking at your basic private schools around San Fran? But the more I clicked around, the more I got interested in boarding school, and this place just looked -- it looked right. I wanted to go to school someplace totally different. Besides, it's summer session. I can go home if I get too weirded out, right?"

She hoped she could.

"Oh, sure." Well. Parker was pretty sure. "But we hope you end up liking it. There's places to do cliff-diving, and the Danger Shop- you'll see that in Hardison's class - and all kinds of stuff. You just have to take time to get used to it. We got an introduction because of visits to Eliot when he was living here on his own."

"That they failed to warn me about ahead of time," Eliot noted. "It's a good school. You'll be a . . . junior? Senior? We've gotten to know a few of the kids about your age. You're in good company."

Were-foxes or no.

Kathy would point out that the were-fox was excellent company. Though probably not to Eliot. Or any adult really.

"An' if flingin' yourself off of high things an' trustin' a very flimsy wire to defeat gravity ain't your idea of a good time, there's lots of other things to do." He paused, trying to figure out what that could be. What did kids these days do for fun?

"...There's an arcade?"

OH GOD HE WAS OLD.

"Junior," Cosima nodded. "Anybody really cool in my class?"

She smiled at Hardison in the indulgent way teenagers tended to smile at elderly people of 27. "It's fine, I can make my own fun. I'm not really a big party kid anyhow. Mainly I like science."

"Hmmmmm our TA is Kathy Hana Li, and she's fun. And nice. Kaylin, too. Edward and Flick were always up for jumping off things..."

You might notice a trend in who Parker remembers here, Cosima.

"Students who are into science stuff, I don't know was much," she admitted. "But I know there's a few who are building their own mad scientist lairs according to Radio."

"There's a radio show that reports what everyone does all day," Eliot clarified, skipping over the part about the squirrels for now. "Goes out as a podcast, too. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, but it's decent enough if you're just looking to see who else is into the things you're into."

"The thing about this school is that it don't seem to care much about what year you're in when it comes to takin' classes," Hardison added. "So you might not find anybody among the juniors that's into science the way you are, but maybe a handful of seniors or a sophomore or two. I think the only time class year matters is when you're figurin' out who's graduatin' or who's goin' to prom or whatever."
