Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Have you been to school before?" Alluka asked curiously. "I haven't been."

"Oh yeah, for years and years," Mabel boasted. "Since all the way back in first grade!"

Or kindergarten. Did kindergarten count? Either way, she was an old pro at this school thing by now.

"I think you're going to like it," she added. Helpfully.

"You've been in it for all that time?!" Alluka said, eyes huge. "School goes on that long?"

"It goes on for as long as you want it do," Mabel agreed, nodding emphatically. "There's playschool and preschool and kindergarten and grade one going on up to eight and then freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year, and then college or university.... Learning just never stops!"

How she managed to strike a dramatic pose with a glittery pig in her arms was anybody's best guess.

"But, but I never did all of that," Alluka said, feeling a bit intimidated. That was an awful lot of learning.

This was going to probably end so poorly.

"Well, what kind of new friend would I be if I didn't, right?" Mabel bounced on her toes in excitement.

Waddles tolerated this with all the grace that a small pig possibly could.

"I'll teach you about school, and you can teach me all about..." She needed a moment to figure out something that Alluka could bring to the table that she already knew about. A short list when you'd only met a minute ago. "Tea parties!"

Yes, yes that was all that Alluka had gotten out of that. But points for trying to make things balanced, Mabel!

Well, it had been worth a shot! Alluka was paying attention to the important part anyway, here!

"I am! I mean, if you want to be friends, of course."

That qualifier wasn't really necessary. Mabel was hell-bent on befriending everyone here. This place was full of friends she didn't even know she had yet! It was so exciting!

Pinkie had said that she'd make special friends at the picnic and she'd been right!

Alluka was so excited that she was going to try and hug Mabel. "I want to be friends!"

Please, please let them be friends?!

Mabel would have to be crazy to turn down a hug! Yes! Hug! With a pig in the middle, because Mabel still hadn't had a chance to put Waddles down, but that was fine, too. Waddles loved hugs!

"Then yaaay, friends!"

She said yay about a lot of things this way. Stickers, adorable animals, grass...

Alluka didn't have any problems with the pig, either, so they could all be friends!

"I've never had a friend before," she admitted, once the hug was over.

Mabel's eyes went wide at that. Okay, so, she'd known people before who had that problem too. Pacifica, for one. But then, Pacifica was kind of terrible. Alluka here was great!

"Well, then you know what this means? I'm going to have to be the best! Friend! Ever!"

Alluka only really had the vaguest idea of the differences between best friends and just friends but it sounded like a good idea.

"Yay!" she cheered. "I have a friend!"

This place was going to be the most awesome. Mabel was calling it now.

It might never be the same after they were done with it, but yes, the most awesome.

"There's going to be a lot more days, right?" Alluka said hopefully. "So we'll get to do lots of fun things?"

"I hope so," Mabel decided. "I have no plans to go anywhere else, you know. Do you, Waddles?"

See Mabel. See Mabel hold the pig up and talk for him in a deep, faux-masculine voice.

"Why no, Mabel! I don't have any plans to go anywhere at all for a while. I guess this means we'll have to do fun things with friends all through the summer!"

You heard the boss-pig, Alluka. Waddles knew what was up, here.

That's because Waddles was the best pig!

"Waddles sounds very smart," she said happily. "So we have to do what he says, right?"

"I don't think I have it in me to say no to a pig as charming as this one," Mabel decreed. "I guess we're going to have to have fun all summer long!"

Yes. That sounded terrible.

"Do you think we'll have much time for games?" she asked hopefully.

It wasn't like Alluka knew how much time school took up.

"I hope so! It's summer camp, right? So it's probably going to mostly be games, I bet!"

... Mabel, you spent a summer in Gravity Falls. How could you think for even a second that summer camp that you were sent to by Gravity Falls would be anything resembling normal?
