Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You know," Kathy said, coming to stand by him with her own ridiculous amounts of food, "I've been reliably informed that people going shirtless is an old Fandom tradition. So of course I had to come and tell you about it. I know how important traditions are to you."

Ezra tilted his head at her, and squinted exaggeratedly for good measure.

"I feel like you're trying to imply something here, but I'm just not sure what..."

"At least you're pretty," Kathy teased. "You don't have to be terribly bright when you're pretty."

"I know, without my looks I'd have nothing," he replied, with an appropriately theatrical sigh. "Except my wit, and my considerable sexual prowess, and my mean throwing knife skills, and –– you know what, actually it would take me losing a lot for things to be hopeless."

"...Why have I never seen you throw knives and how quickly can we rectify this?"

Look, she'd seen ~~meta for-~~The Winter Soldier. Knives were damn sexy.

"Because you've never asked to." Because she hadn't known to ask, but details! "And, I don't know. Sometime?"

"Definitely." He likely recognized the spark of interest in her eyes by now. And the way she was lightly biting at her bottom lip. "Probably have to find somewhere out of the way and secluded for this demonstration. So we don't have to worry about anyone stumbling in."

Beat.

"...On the knife-throwing."

Totally.

Totally. You could tell by Ezra's widening smirk just how totally. "There are some pretty secluded parts of the preserve," he offered. "And it's really getting warm enough to do things outdoors."

Like knife-throwing.

Absolutely!

"True. It's almost warm enough for a California girl like me," Kathy noted. "We could trade off? You show me a little knifework, I could show you a bit of my routines, stuff like that. I really like seeing what you can do."

"I could be persuaded to do that," Ezra replied, nodding, as if that even neded to be said. "Seems like it could be very fun indeed. And very... educational."

"You know how much I love learning new things," Kathy said blandly. "And I think I'm a pretty good student. You think you could show me your techniques?"

Actually, Kathy would be all over learning how to throw knives, double-entendres be damned.

"You should text me some time when you're feeling up for a few lessons."

Ezra nodded very seriously. "I'll jot that down somewhere," he said. "See if there's room in my calendar."

"I know you're often very busy with other pursuits," Kathy said with an understanding nod. "But if you could fit me in, I'd would be very appreciative. And demonstrative of said appreciation?"

She gave him an innocent smile. "You certainly seemed to enjoy the brownies I brought over the last time."

Ezra did his best not to smirk (too much). He was... not entirely successful, but he did okay.

"Well," he said, "they were very tasty brownies."

Some people had resting bitchface. Ezra had resting smirkface. Kathy was used to it. Even found it charming.

"I was raised that when you visit someone for the first time you should always bring something to eat along with you," she said. "I'm just glad to hear I succeeded so admirably."

Yeah, the half-smirking wasn't going anywhere. So it was good that she didn't hate it. (Of course, it was also her fault he was doing it in the first place.)

"Very admirably," he replied, nodding again. "A plus, would eat again. Very thoughtful of you."

Slander! Ezra would almost certainly have found something to smirk at even if she hadn't been there.

"Thank you." She dimpled at him. "So, yeah, let me know when you're up for something like this. We can make a picnic out of it? You know, blanket, basket of goodies, the whole nine yards."

"Picnic food and lemonade and knives, sounds like my kind of an event." Also... potential other stuff but he was trying to at least sound respectable for a second here. "I'll get back to you on that. Sometime soon."

Truth! The picnic basket full of goodies could technically mean anything, but if it were left to Kathy it would just be lemonade and types of food. There were limits to her daring, after all.

"Take your time," she said, smiling. "I know you're busy. I'm a patient girl."

"I know."

And sure, that was the bit he decided to make sound very dirty indeed, with a wicked smirk. He didn't even have a good reason to. he just did it.

Then he blew her a kiss, turning to go. "See you soon, darling."

And now Kathy was blushing over the phrase, 'I know.' Thanks Ezra. Thanks for that.

"Bye," she said, hoping she didn't come across as flustered as she felt. "Have a good picnic."

She was just going to go get more water. And be both annoyed and impressed by his ability to make anything sound filthy. Brat.
