Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Jalian laughed. "Oh, they sound like fun! Silly, but fun." Honestly, nipples were the part that boys had too! Why were theirs okay and hers weren't? "Do they come in different shapes and colors?"

"More than you can imagine," Raven said. "I bet 'Dite's will have a bunch of them."

"They're a thing for sex, but they're safer to see than nipples?" Jalian laughed again. "This culture is so strange! But I will have to find some!"

She grinned at Raven. "You could wear them now if you wanted."

"I could! What pattern should I go for?"

"Fractals!" Fractals were always Jalian's favorite pattern. "Or..." She grinned wickedly. "You could make them not changed when the rest of you is. Pretty blue."

Raven actually blushed furiously at that suggestion. Something about having only her nipples be her natural shape sounded -- well. Really dirty. It was like the whole theory about people being more enticing partially clothed than they were totally naked.

"That's color and texture," she said. "But what about shape? I don't know how to do fractals."

Jalian wasn't going to complain if Raven wanted to be totally naked, either!

"Hm. Spiral, maybe?" She gestured in a swirl ending at her nipple.

Raven looked down at her chest and tilted her head thoughtfully. "How about. . . ."

She shifted slowly, letting the blouse she was mimicking slowly transform into bare skin with the flipping of scales until she was sitting there in an apparent skirt, topless save for two little stylized blue galaxy spirals.

"There?"

"Oh, very pretty!" Jalian said, smiling. The transformation as much as the end effect. "Do you get sunburned?" she asked curiously. She'd noticed some of the people here did.

Raven shrugged and shook her head. "I haven't yet. But I guess I might if I spent all day in the sun. What about you? You just seem to get paler in the summer."

"I used to get tan," Jalian answered. "When I traveled the neg-entropy timeline to get here, my skin changed the same as my hair. But I've never been burned; I don't think any ken Selvren has. Maybe it's something we adapted to, after Dilann."

"That makes sense," Raven said. "The whole point of evolution is being able to adapt to survive an environment."

Jalian nodded. "Enough radiation, like in the Burns, will still burn or kill us, but maybe not the sun." She recalled something. "There is a class on surviving apocalypse this term. Do you think the teacher has thought of things like that?"

Raven shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe the teacher's from their own apocalyptic future where the sun's disappeared all together."

"I met him when we camped," Jalian said. "He is friends with Eliot; I think from the same time."

"Eliot's . . . the long haired surly guy?" Raven asked. "With the crazy blonde lady."

"Yes," Jalian agreed. "But he is very useful for a male. He can live and work in the outdoors, and he can cook. I haven't met the lady yet."

"He's kind of cute," Raven said. "You know, for an old guy. What's the teacher like? Mr. Hardison I mean. I think I'm in his class."

She was signed up to TA his class, even, though no one had gotten around to telling her, yet.

Jalian thought for a moment. "Smart," she answered. "And good with computers, I think. A little...hm. Jumpy, maybe?"

High-strung. She meant high-strung.

Well, she had met him quite firmly out of his element.

"Jumpy, huh? Guess I shouldn't turn into a five headed dragon on the first day of class, then. Don't want to give the poor old guy a heart attack."

Yeah, she thought all the teachers were old. Though she might change that assessment once she actually SAW Hardison.

Jalian laughed. "Or do! It could be very amusing. But then you must take pictures."

"Maybe I'll turn into him," Raven said. "People get the funniest looks on their faces when I do that."

Jalian laughed. "That could be fun, too."
