Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"There's glitter everywhere!" Alluka squealed, as she got a good look around the picnic. "It's so pretty!"

She looked at her stuffed bunny.

"Would you like to be glittered?"

The bunny didn't really have an opinion on that, but that was fine, Alluka was used to making up its opinions to suit herself.

Cheer was like a bat signal for Edward, really, and she was exuding quite a bit of it. "Someone seems fond of the glitter," he called to the girl, grinning. "You're in luck. We've plenty to go around."

Alluka was about pretty much the human embodiment of cheer most of the time, it was true.

She beamed back at the guy. He was talking to her! "I never got to have much at home," Alluka shared. "But no one cares about the mess of it here!"

"Oh, there's plenty who care about the mess," Edward said, chuckling, "But they're outnumbered, or at least the people in charge don't care much for their opinion. You should see our dances."

"Aye," Edward said. This one was adorable, wasn't she? "The big ones are outside of summer, mind, but there's food, dancing, glitter..."

"And we're all invited?" she asked excitedly. "All of us can go? Even if, even if we've never been to one before?"

Ringo heard that squeal, and found herself smiling. "It is everywhere," she agreed amiably, hoping that her interjection wasn't unwelcome. "I wonder how they clean it up, after. Or is it just here all-year-round?"

"Do you think they just leave it around?" Alluka asked, thrilled to be talked to, and beaming at the other girl. "And every day people can play in it?!"

She would never, ever get the glitter out of her hair if that happened but it would be the best. thing. ever.

"I don't know?" Ringo admitted with a smile. "But I imagine that it is very difficult to clean up. I mean, just imagine how much work it will be to get it out of your clothes and hair after just one day out here."

Alluka giggled.

"It'd be hard," she said, "but everyone's so pretty and colourful with it around."

"Which isn't a bad thing," Ringo agreed. "Though I imagine that if there were too much glitter, it might get in your nose. And then everyone would be sneezing all the time."

Alluka considered that idea. It didn't sound very comfortable, really.

"... Pretty sneezes?" she tried.

"Glitter! So much glitter!"

Yeah, Mabel had found that glitter, too.

It... was entirely possible she'd been rolling in it. And Waddles, too. Because nothing was better than a glittery pig, right?

"Hi! It's good to see another glitter aficionado around here! Isn't that right, Waddles?"

Waddles... sneezed. It was entirely too easy to get glitter in his nose.

"You're so sparkly!" Alluka thought that she looked-- "You look so beautiful!""

It made Alluka want to roll around in the sparkles too, but she just hugged her bunny and beamed at the other girl.

And... and her...

"You have a pig!"

"His name is Waddles," Mabel introduced, holding him out to say hello. "And I'm Mabel! Are you new here too?"

And were you half as lost as she was? Not that she was letting it show, with the way she was bouncing around here today and all.

She wasn't lost at all! She was still in her room! It had just gotten an awful lot larger and she might need permission to go visit the town, which was funny since this was her room...

... Alluka was possibly very lost indeed.

"Hi Waddles!" Alluka said, holding out her hand for him to... sniff? Touch? She didn't really know, but it seemed polite to offer. She beamed at Mabel. "I'm Alluka! A shiny portal thing took me here this morning. I was in the middle of a tea party."

"A tea party!" Mabel was beaming as Waddles snuffled at Alluka's hand. "That's amaaazing! We were just in the woods, and then we fell into the bottomless pit, into... more woods."

Alluka giggled more as she took her hand back from Waddles.

"And then, and then you found a castle! I bet there can be tea parties there! And you don't have to be royalty to go in it."

She'd checked, you see.

Anders had pointed Alluka out to Kathy during their conversation and so afterwards, it just seemed the right thing to do to go say hello.

"Your bunny's probably going to end up that way no matter what," she said, giving the girl a smile. "Everything ends up covered in glitter here. Hi, welcome to the island. I'm Kathy."

Alluka beamed at Kathy.

"Hi!" she said happily, bouncing over. "I'm Alluka."

It was still so exciting to introduce herself to people! Even if she forgot to do it half the time.

"And if my bunny gets coated in glitter on purpose he'll look super cute," she said earnestly. "But if it's by accident it could just be bad."

It would be a tragedy. This was a tough decision.

"Then I hope he decides he likes being covered in glitter," Kathy said, with the wisdom of someone who had been here for years and, therefore, knew all about the likelihood of ending up beglittered regardless of your personal preference. "Who doesn't want to be super cute for their first picnic?"

Kathy was starting to get what Anders had meant about Alluka being very young, yes.

"I did, I did!" Alluka cheered. "But I didn't get a chance! The spinny thing was all 'ta-dah' and then my bunny went through," because Alluka had stumbled, "and then I went after it."

"I think you look wicked cute already anyway," Kathy said, looking at Alluka's pink dress. Kathy was wearing a tank top and Revengers leggings, so Alluka had her beat in the adorable department by roughly a mile already. "Spinny thing? Was it blue?"

Sounded like a portal, yup.

Alluka honestly couldn't remember the colour. She'd mostly been focused on the OH, SHINY part of it.

"Yes," she said, since that seemed like the right answer anyway. Then she beamed down at her bunny. "Thank you! Pink's my favourite colour."
