Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Dani had brought the ultimate ice-breaker. She'd arrived on horseback. It was going to be so much fun combing glitter out of Duke's mane and tail later on.

Alluka flailed her arms excitedly in Dani's direction, nearly dropping her stuffed bunny again.

"You're riding a pony!"

That was the neatest thing! She'd never seen anyone ride a pony!

Duke, being his usual relaxed self, wasn't the least bit fazed. As Dani brought him to a stop, he started grazing.

"He needed the exercise, and it was such a nice day that I couldn't resist," said Dani.

"Can, can I pet him?" she asked, immediately adopting a wheedling tone. "I've never met one before."

Except for Pinkie, but Pinkie was clearly a different kind of pony.

"Sure!" said Dani, climbing out of the saddle. She took Duke by the reins and brought him a bit closer. "He loves the attention, and at least today he doesn't have to share with the rest of the horses in the barn."

"There's more of them?!" Alluka asked, skipping closer to reach out to pet the horse's side. "But he's so big! How do they all fit in your house?"

Maybe she had a really big house?

Alluka had totally missed the part about a barn.

Ringo had, for a few moments at the beginning of the picnic, worried that the fact that she was wearing a backpack when no one else was would set her apart. If she had not already put that concern to bed, this would have certainly done it for her.

She found herself laughing in sort-of relief as she looked up at Dani. "You have a horse." Which was obvious, but... also sort of bore pointing out anyway.

"I've got several horses, actually, but this guy really needed the exercise," said Dani, giving Duke an affectionate pat on the neck.

"Several...?" Ringo repeated, half under her breath. "Where... where do you keep them all?" After all, Ringo had a sudden new appreciation for the fact that horses were not exactly small animals.

"I own the local riding stable on the island. It's called The Gig," said Dani.

"Oh!" Ringo smiled in amused understanding. "I suppose that it makes a lot of sense for you to have a horse, then."
