Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole. 

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

Worf stood at attention at the campfire, monitoring everyone.

Apparently he heard the term "Campfire Police" from the radio and decided to take it to heart.

Mac was settled by the campfire for the moment. Until it got too warm, anyway.

She'd picked up some pieces of pineapple from the buffet, and was nibbling her way through those.

Jaina hadn't spent a lot of time at the luau last year, but she'd seen enough to know what it was like. Dressed in one of the more summery outfits she'd gotten for the specific purpose of fitting in in Mexico (hey, they had to get used sometime), she decided maybe this year she'd do something novel, like stay for a while.

Amber had a few marshmallows while watching the pig roast. It was just eye-catching. Really.

Lee found a seat a little ways away from the campfire so he could stretch out on his back on the sand and look up at the sky.

Ned had absolutely no idea why he was there but he was and he was trying not to look too nervous about the crowd. He tucked his hands tightly into his pockets and took a seat in the sand, trying to look relaxed but mostly just looking restless.

Digby was sitting next to him, looking far more relaxed with the situation.

There was a notebook, a girl who held it carefully, and a spot out of the way with enough tiki-torch light that either of those things could be usefully. Adah mostly only came to these for the people watching, mostly, although she found her mind drifting to other places based on the pure nature of the fire and the mere scent of something like a pig's flesh being darkened by the licks of all those flames.

There was a party...thing going on. Of course Turtle was there! At some point, she definitely decided to see exactly how many marshmallows she could manage to roast on one stick.

Meg was sitting by the fire, roasting some marshmallows. She was trying to avoid looking at the pig because...ew.

Marshmallows? Yeah, you bet Jen was going to be there. And ogling the pig. Not like that. But she'd never actually seen a roasting pig before.

Cal did have to take a few moments, thoughtfully sipping a drink, to ponder over the fact that he couldn't ever really see a pig roast without feeling somewhat uncomfortable, and he wasn't sure if that was more Dr. Luce's fault, or Milton's.

Lois was sitting on a blanket a little ways away from the fire. She was currently eating her way through a plate of pineapple.

The party seemed to be well underway before Ella got out of work, and she couldn't even look at food after the amount of pie she'd eaten at the diner.

She spread out her cloak on the ground and lay back to look at the stars.

Trying not to remember the Luau from last year, John wandered around with a lei around his neck, interested to see who would be wearing a grass skirt.

Toby loved Luaus. He thought his Hawaiian-print shorts were very festive with a nice pink and orange lei draped across his bronzed chest, glistening with just the slightest hint of sweat from being too near the fire.

This was the BEST LUAU EVER!!! Sokka repeatedly walked up to the pig to savor its aroma and check to see if it was done. A lot. Probably annoying whoever's job it was to cook the damn thing.

A good-sized area has been smoothed out and cleared of sticks and leaves to facilitate dancing.
