Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone. But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone. A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge ~~moddable~~ buffet spread out to the flagpole.

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

Cal snorted. "Probably, yeah. Personally, I was holding out for maybe a little dance."

"I'm flattered, but I'm sorry to tell you that I don't like you that way," Sokka replied with a snort.

Cal's eyebrow quirked slightly. "Shucks," he said with a dull glance Sokka's way. "There go all my hopes for the evening."

"Aw, come on, that was FUNNY! High comedy, right there. We're at a party -- what crawled up your butt and died?"

Cal grinned slightly. "And here you said my sarcasm wasn't subtle enough," he commented with a shake of his head. "Make up your mind; you're worse than a woman."

"When I said your sarcasm wasn't subtle enough," Sokka replied, "I was being sarcastic."

No, he didn't remember if that was the truth or not, but it made for a good line.

"Man, I always screw that up," Cal deadpanned, shaking his head in dire remorse.

Sokka grinned. "You should stop that."

Then he shrugged. "But, uh, seriously, you looked like the animal-thing was making you sad. If you're a vegetarian, you could... uh. Not watch?"

"Not sad, just...awkward," Cal clarified, biting his lip a little. "It's...complicated."

Complicated worked well as a word to put in placement of having to explain that a skewered animal on a spit just reminded you of some unfortunate therapy that you had to suffer through at a very impressionable time.

Sokka shrugged. "Sorry, I didn't mean... Complicated sounds bad. Forget I asked."

"Hey, don't worry about it," Cal told him with a nod, and then, deftly, threw out the good old conversation switcher of, "So how goes it?"

Sokka shrugged. "Pretty well. Workshops seem fun, new people are interesting, you know, all kinds of good. How are you adjusting to Fandom so far?"

"I'm going to throw a gremlin at the next person who asks me that question again, I swear," Cal muttered, figuring that would be an excellent way to convey his answer.

"Don't worry. Two months from now we'll get a batch of fresh faces, and you'll get to be the ever-so-helpful Fandomonian guide telling them things they won't believe."

"And I can throw gremlins at them?"

"Absolutely!"

Sokka grinned. "Let me know when you try to catch them. I'd love to help out." By filming it.
