Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole.

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

[OOC:  YAAAAAY LUAU!  Students, teachers, and townies all welcome!]

Worf stood at attention at the campfire, monitoring everyone.

Apparently he heard the term "Campfire Police" from the radio and decided to take it to heart.

Ron was checking out the food and throwing what he though looked like the best bits on his plate.

Mac was settled by the campfire for the moment. Until it got too warm, anyway.

She'd picked up some pieces of pineapple from the buffet, and was nibbling her way through those.

First Greek food, now Hawaiian food. They're just getting spoiled here.

Shawn's first port of call at this luau was, as usual, the food. He collected a whole stack on his plate.

Jaina hadn't spent a lot of time at the luau last year, but she'd seen enough to know what it was like. Dressed in one of the more summery outfits she'd gotten for the specific purpose of fitting in in Mexico (hey, they had to get used sometime), she decided maybe this year she'd do something novel, like stay for a while.

Brooke's entire reason for being in this area tonight was to see whether anyone had thought to bring appropriate party drinks. The fact that this may be a school-sanctioned event had sort of not crossed her mind.

Naomi was sitting by the fire and roasting some marshmallows.

After a while of looking over the food and debating what to have Andros finally selected something to eat.

Amber had a few marshmallows while watching the pig roast. It was just eye-catching. Really.

Amber was eating more pineapple than she probably should be. And the pork was yummy. If only her ma and Loretta could eat this good.

Dancing? Of course Amber was dancing! She had on a grass skirt and a couple leis, and was enjoying herself fully.

Lee found a seat a little ways away from the campfire so he could stretch out on his back on the sand and look up at the sky.

Ned had absolutely no idea why he was there but he was and he was trying not to look too nervous about the crowd. He tucked his hands tightly into his pockets and took a seat in the sand, trying to look relaxed but mostly just looking restless.

Digby was sitting next to him, looking far more relaxed with the situation.

"Ned," Worf said acknowledging his cabinmate. "I see you have joined the festivities."

Apparently Klingons are not only warriors but masters of obvious statements.

There was a notebook, a girl who held it carefully, and a spot out of the way with enough tiki-torch light that either of those things could be usefully. Adah mostly only came to these for the people watching, mostly, although she found her mind drifting to other places based on the pure nature of the fire and the mere scent of something like a pig's flesh being darkened by the licks of all those flames.

Cal found himself mostly gravitating toward the food and the tables containing them, picking a little at this and that.

After getting a plate of food together Ron headed toward the campfire and did a small tentative wave at Mac.

"Hey. Glad to see you survived the first day of class."

"Yep, I'm here," Ned said, nodding. "You are too. This your first...luau?"

There was a party...thing going on. Of course Turtle was there! At some point, she definitely decided to see exactly how many marshmallows she could manage to roast on one stick.

"Surprised you're not on the dance floor," Lee said after spotting her and wandering over.

"Yes, I am here," he said looking around stiffly. "It seemed the... social thing to do. And yes this is my first luau."

...

"Is this your first luau as well?"
