Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole.

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

[OOC:  YAAAAAY LUAU!  Students, teachers, and townies all welcome!]

"Surprised you're not on the dance floor," Lee said after spotting her and wandering over.

"Oh, you know me," Adah commented after sliding a slight glance toward the Eel as he approached. "I wouldn't want to make everyone else look bad."

She liked how there were so many facets of things that were wrong with that statement, really...

"You're such a kind soul," he said, taking a seat next to her. "Very altruistic."

"A regular old humanitarian," she muttered agreeably, tucking her pen into the wire spiral of her notebook before tucking her hair behind her ear on that side, and then looked over toward the Eel with a slight tilt of her head and a light, distant sort of smile. "Saintly, even. How've you been?"

"Miss my room," he said, shrugging a shoulder. "Cabins are nice but crowded. You?"

"I could say the same thing," Adah said, sighing a bit. "Twice as much room in the senior cabin, but twice as many people, too." And one of them River. "That, and I think the idleness is slowly driving me to some sort of refined madness, like wine. I can't wait for it to be tomorrow just because I'll have something to do..."

"Not as easy to come see you either," he said and half smiled. "There's all those people to avoid and the walls are so thin they're not even there."

Adah, grinning, had to take a moment to decide on which response she wanted to give to that to tease him, and realized that this was another reason more than a week shouldn't pass before they interact. These things piled up, since she didn't get the chance to use them sparingly through various other encounters.

She decided to go with the one that involved her blinking innocent, wide eyes at him, and wondering, "What would thin walls have to do with anything?"

He smirked at her and said, "They might overhear important conversations about life, the universe and theories of relativity. Or, they might overhear me actually making you speechless. Or, you know, that whole kissing thing I like to do to you."

"You have good point," Adah mused. "I wouldn't want people thinking that I might occasionally like doing things like talking and kissing."

"They might get jealous," he said, leaning in conspiratorially. "Might want in on that action."

"So, in other words," Adah mused, meeting the Eel's lean slightly, "you wouldn't want people to start getting the idea tat I might actually like things like talking and kissing, hm?"

"I didn't say that," he said and winked at her because he knew she so loved that. "I just don't want them to think you like kissing other people besides me."

Adah narrowed her eyes at the Eel slightly. That winking. She should poke out his eye and see how well he could wink then. Only she wouldn't, because she did rather like his eyes and that would probably be painful for him, besides, and she figured if she wasn't allowed to cut into him unless necessary, the same probably went for random, abrupt eye surgery. She wasn't that into optometry, anyway.

"I don't think that'd be too much of a problem," she assured him. "I haven't even met any of them. I keep hoping that any introductions to any of the new kids will be done purely in the form of them doing something idiotic over the weekend and coming into the clinic."

"You could meet my little sister," Lee said, smiling at this. "Not really my sister but the program where I get paired with a new student. She thinks I'm a prince."

[Off to a meeting!]

Adah snorted, and shot the Eel a look that suggested that he should have given her a bit more warning before pulling that in. "Clearly a case of delusion, then," she commented. "She's the one with the very floofy, frightening dress and all the bubbling, yes?"

"That's her," he said, nodding. "I could be a prince!"

Adah grinned a little; she had the benefit of silently observing a lot of interesting things during that welcome picnic, but she had to admit, the series of expressions that had passed on the Eel's face during that particular encounter was one of her favorites. She had no idea what was said, but some of the body language had been priceless.

"Of what?" she challenged.

"Caprica," he said, looking smug.

"Prince of an entire planet?" Adah asked. "Isn't that kind of a big job for a lazy, cocky individual such as yourself? Although that would explain where the arrogance comes from; it has to come from somewhere."

Re: The Campfire

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Lazy?" He wouldn't doubt the cocky part. "I am not lazy. I just enjoy relaxing. I am so not lazy."

"This coming from a man who I know for a fact has absolutely no issue with spending almost an entire day in bed," Adah commented. "Not that I have anything against lazy; I happen to be hopelessly lazy myself. At times."

Re: The Campfire

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's not lazy, that is called relaxing," he said and winked just for fun. "And I recall you enjoying one of those days with me too."

Re: The Campfire

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Absolutely," Adah's head ducked in a nod of agreement. "But I'm very upfront and open about my laziness. Of course I would have enjoyed it."

Re: The Campfire

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's not lazy," he insisted. "It's relaxing for long periods of time in order to get your energy back."
