Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole. 

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

Her eyes glowed at the praise and she kept up the, well, it was more marching than dancing. "Do I Do Anything Else Or Do I Just Move my Feet?"

Moving his feet was pretty much the limit of Luke's dancing skills. "You can move your arms, too, I think?" he said, gesturing around at the other dancers.

Gladys turned to watch them, then tentatively swung her arms while she moved her feet. It was odd, both looking and feeling, but she was determined. "Arms And Legs And The Beat And This Is Dancing," she observed. "This Is Fun."

"I'm glad," Luke said, bouncing in time to the beat.

Sort of. If you were being very generous.

"Thank You For Asking Me To Dance." The lei around her arm was bouncing as she copied what Luke was doing. It was possible she was leaving indentations in the ground.

"It's what you do at a party," Luke said, smiling way, way, WAY up.

He hoped he didn't accidentally fall into a hole.

"If you'd like," Luke said. "I'm sure lots of people would like to dance with you."
