Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole. 

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

"I promise I'll protect you if anyone wants to roast you," Kaylee said very seriously. "Loosen up, it's a party!"

"I'm...loose," he said, demonstrating that fact by taking his hands out of his pockets and wriggling them at her.

Kaylee watched him, raising a brow. "You don't look real festive."

"I don't know...how," he said, gesturing around him. "I don't know."

Kaylee considered him, and then tugged one of the flowers out of her hair and offered it to him. "That'll help!"

"Thank you," he said quietly, reaching to take the flower. "Do I just...hold it? Or twirl it?"

"Put it behind your ear," she suggested.

"Behind my ear?" Ned held up the flower, looked at it and then carefully tucked it behind his ear.

Kaylee grinned. "There you go. Feel more festive?"

"I feel like I have a flower behind my ear," he said, glancing at it from the corner of his eyes.

"It's a good look for you," she told him, nodding.

"I don't think I have the ears for flowers," he decided.

"You look real handsome with it," she promised, shaking her head.

"I have a flower behind my ear," he said and flicked it. "Handsome isn't the word I'd use."

"You ain't objective, like me," she replied.

"I think you might need your eyesight checked," he teased but hadn't made a move to take the flower down.

"I'm...confident," he lied through his teeth. "I'm just...quietly confident."

"Can I see your taco tattoo?" she asked.

"It's...in the shop," he said, saying the very first thing he could think and nearly smacking his head when it came out.

He deserved that, he knew. "It could be. It could be a special tattoo."

"Your back looks like it's all there," she noted.

"Still." Ned shook his head. "It's kind of a private tattoo."

"Then you ain't ever gonna see mine," she decided, and smirked at him.

Kaylee did not actually have a tattoo.
