Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole. 

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

Luke turned beet red. "Sometimes people wonder," he told his feet.

"I'm not one to call people out on potentially dirty things," Meg said. "I'll think it, sure. But I won't say anything."

Luke laughed. "Good to know. Are you here for the whole summer?"

"Yep. Definitely not leaving until the school makes me," Meg said. Anybody from Neptune would feel the same way. "What about you?"

"I head back next week," Luke said, looking at the ground.

Meg pouted. "Do you have to?"

"Yeah," Luke said quietly. "I've kind of got a destiny waiting for me."

"Ah, that ol' destiny thing," she said. "You'll be able to write and stuff, right?"

"I certainly hope so," Luke said. "When my father went home after graduation, he got cut off from this universe."

"No, none of that for you," Meg said, shaking her head. "I won't allow it."
