Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole.

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

[OOC:  YAAAAAY LUAU!  Students, teachers, and townies all welcome!]

And if that's a flash of disappointment that flickers across Wes's face when Jen doesn't come over, well. He manages to hide it pretty well.

And this would be Jen really wishing she'd ever thought of making Wes -- her Wes, well, sort of -- wear a grass skirt, and then imagining what Katie, Trip, and Lucas would have said about that.

The teasing she would've gotten would have been insufferable.

"Having fun?" she calls.

"Yeah-huh," Wes grins, doing a little shimmy and sending his grass skirt swaying.

Jen can't help laughing at that, because seriously. Wes in a grass skirt. Shimmying. Nothing like a little goofy adorableness to mix in with the angst. Makes it crunchier.

"You're a natural."

"Thanks," Wes says, his grin turning somewhat cheeky. "Marshmallow?" the stick he'd just pulled out from over the fire has four marshmallows crammed on to it. He *is* a teenage boy after all.

"Please?" Gaaaaaaaaaah the grin. Jen has this sudden urge to go dive into the ocean now, but instead of that, now she wanders over.

"Milady," and with a flourish, he tilts the stick-o-marshmallows in her direction. "Take as many as you'd like. I've got more." It's true, there's a whole stack of unroasted marshmallows on the arm of the chair he'd staked out.

Jen laughs and carefully takes two marshmallows off the end of the stick, nibbling at one of them. "Wow," she says. "You're a real charmer, you know that?"

She knew that, of course, but she can't let him know that she knows because that would mean he'd have to know . . . ow.

"I try," Wes says. Something about this girl... he just can't seem to stop smiling whenever she's nearby.

And if Jen knew that, she might be strongly tempted to grab him by the shoulders and shake him and yell something about "destiny, you idiot."

So it's a good thing she doesn't.

"So . . . how are you liking this place so far?"
