Luau: The Main Campfire: Friday Evening

The irony of having a Hawaiian luau while in Greece probably hadn't escaped anyone.  But given that the majority of the students probably couldn't pinpoint Hawaii on the map, it didn't seem like that was enough of a reason to cancel what had become a summer tradition.

So in the early evening, the main campfire was transformed into a party place with coconuts, grass skirts, and leis for everyone.  A pig was slowly roasting over the fire, and a huge moddable buffet spread out to the flagpole.

A dance floor was set up, and Hawaiian music was playing, but there was also plenty of grass spread with blankets for the less-rhythm-inclined.

[OOC:  YAAAAAY LUAU!  Students, teachers, and townies all welcome!]

They didn't exactly have luaus at home, which was part of why Evey wasn't even sure she should go. But somehow she found herself seated near the campfire, quiet and watching people, and wearing a lei around her neck.

Yeah. Evey. A lei. She was being festive without any prompting. Go figure.

Luke gave her a bright smile and a wave. "Hey, you."

Evey actually cracked a wide, genuine smile. "Hello, Luke. How are you?"

"Good," he replied, moving a little closer. "I'd been wondering how you were, actually."

"I'm fine," she said, much too quickly. "Congratulations on your graduation."

"At least the school didn't blow up this year," Luke said lightly, not buying her "fine" for a minute.

She raised a brow. "That could be arranged, if you're disappointed," she said wryly.

Luke laughed. "Oh, I'm good. The fairies were enough for me. When my stepmother," --okay, strange--, "graduated last year," --stranger still--, "aliens came and blew up the dorms. It was hard to explain to her grandparents."

Evey raised her brows, and turned to survey the school. "Aliens?"

"Green with lasers," Luke said, nodding. "It was strange, even for here."

"Maybe they should have tried that at home," she mused, smiling slightly. "It was green aliens with lasers who blew up the Bailey, not a 'demolition team.'"

"For a movie," Luke said, nodding.

"Our CGI isn't quite that good yet," she said apologetically.

"Neither was ours," Luke said. "It was worth a shot, though. Apparently the grandparents believed it."

"They must not be very bright," she decided.

"They hadn't spent a lot of time on the island and come from a reality where weird things are limited to a guy selling t-shirts at weddings," Luke said. "Aliens really aren't in their vocabulary."
