BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

Topher? Was not excited for today.

And yet here he was, fresh from LAX, dragging non-wheely luggage across the floor. He sank down into a chair, kicking his duffel into footrest distance.

"You getting shipped off too?" he asked the girl a few seats away.

"Fandom High?" Angelica said, giving Topher a nervous smile. "I'm spending part of the summer there."

Backpack with his few meager belongings slung over one shoulder, Toby had just been sort of wandering aimlessly when he came across a door marked "Portalocity". Curiousity basically overrode sense at that point, because it seemed like no one else was even aware of the door's existence. So, of course, he had to check it out... And found himself in what looked like a waiting area of some sort. "Um," he managed intelligently. "Hi?"

Kate had slept... about as well as you could expect for someone who'd spent the past ten hours on what was best described as a speeding land-raft, and looked like it. Ley travel was not exactly luxurious.

Which is really to say, 'she looked cranky'.

Or she did, until she dumped her bag on the ground, and stared out at the airplanes, when her irritation subsided a little in favor of perplexed, and a murmured, "What the--"

"Man, I hate airlines," Sam grumbled as she dragged her busted up wheelie suitcase into the shuttle waiting area. "Should have gotten a lift from Freight Dog, again." She was possibly the only person in the history of ever to say such a thing. She plopped herself down on a clear spot of floor and pulled a fat cake from her suitcase, eying up the others in the waiting area as she unwrapped it.

Jack approached the shuttle lounge with a sense of trepidation.

"High school," he muttered to himself. "Oh, yeah. This is going to end well."

Simon was standing a little further away from the main crowd, bag in hand, watching everyone else but making sure not to stare at anyone, even as he wondered whether they'd all been affected by a storm like he had, and what they could possibly do.

He straightened the collar of his shirt and tried not to look quite as nervous as he was feeling. He wasn't very successful.

Ragnor Fell's portal had landed her inside security so Jocelyn didn't worry about problems with the weapons that took up a portion of her suitcase and were stashed inside her coat. She was feeling a little bit nervous about her clothes though. The long green velvet coat and dress underneath drew more stares from the traveling mundies than she was comfortable with. Mundies didn't usually notice her, but she'd been forbidden from using glamours for this trip. Stupid rule.

She pushed her way into the Portalocity lounge, surveying the other students there with some measure of interest as she found a seat. The door to Portalocity itself seemed to be glamoured in some odd way. What made these kids special to be able to see it?

"Hey" was the quiet greeting as Jocelyn took a seat, her boots up on the suitcase.

Marshall wandered into the lounge, dropped his suitcase, and promptly sat on it before taking out his phone and firing off a text to Lucas.

this sucks. don't find josie without me.

Given he'd expressed similar sentiments with disturbing regularity over the last week, when Lucas didn't respond right away, Marshall considered it safe to assume he wasn't responding at all.

He looked around for a vending machine -- although, Marshall reflected, taking out his wallet, maybe that would have to wait until he found some American money. "Of all the things... Hey, anyone want to buy some Canadian cash off me?"

Mercy was on her best behavior. Mercy had been on her best behavior for months now and yet here she was, leaving yet another 'family'. Okay, maybe she agreed it was for the best to get away, but still.

The noise hurt her ears a little and the smells were a little overwhelming, but maybe once she was on the bus it would be better.

Once Freddie had hauled his suitcase into the terminal, he sat down and pulled out his PearPad, a touch screen tablet computer shaped like a pear. He smiled when he picked up the wifi.

"Well, at least I don't have to worry about boredom," he said, and started to tinker with one of his PearApps.

Billy had been moping ever since his parents had told him he was being shipped off to a boarding school for the summer, and yet, here he was, dragging his suitcase behind him as he joined the crowd. It wasn't like he couldn't just pop back to New York with a thought, but the idea of being so far from his friends made his stomach hurt, and the idea of making new friends...well, it was a school, so he wasn't sure how likely that was. Then again, the other kids who were waiting didn't exactly look like he was expecting, and he was trying to watch without staring at anyone awkwardly.

Alex was carrying a backpack, a sword in a padded sheath, and a small duffel bag when he arrived in the lounge. The rest of his assorted stuff was being shipped, but he'd needed clothes for a few days and stuff, and like hell he was trusting Grasscutter to FedEx.

A quick scan of the people in the room turned up all teenagers, so he was probably in the right place, but just to be sure, he asked, "Fandom High, right?"

With a sack with a few changes of clothes slung over one shoulder, and his solar surfer tucked up under the other armpit, Jim had found his way into the terminal with a slightly baffled look on his face. He had been expecting this whole experience to suck. A lot. And so far, he hadn't been totally disappointed in that regard.

What he hadn't been expecting was the portal. He'd really had more of a charter ship in mind, not a... an... airport? What the ship was an airport, anyhow?

He wrinkled his nose as he looked around the lounge one more time. On Earth for ten minutes, and already he wanted to go back to stupid, boring old Montressor.

At least it wasn't little league anymore.

Well, gee whiz! Butters could hardly believe it! Here he was, waiting for the bus to take him to a whole new summer camp, in Maryland, and he wasn't even in trouble!

...He was pretty sure he wasn't in trouble. Hamburger, what if he was? He tried to go over anything he might have done, but, really, he couldn't recall. Still, he had the feeling that it wasn't the sort of camp to have him pray the gay away or get over his apparent sex addiction or handle his drug dealing or anything like that. That was good. And so he was excited, with a little bit of nervousness, as he stood for a while and took things in, trying to figure what rehabilitation he was in for now.

And, to help keep himself from getting too excited, Butters began to sing a little, fiddling with his fingers. "Lu lu lu, I've got some apples; lu lu lu, you've got some, too...."

Peter's parents were the most sadistic old coots that ever walked this Earth, and if he wasn't so sure they were completely ignorant to his plans he'd say they were deliberately trying to sabotage him.

But no. This was Peter's life, which meant they were just doing it accidentally to torture him.

Not that he didn't have a friendly smile plastered all over his face as he arrived at the terminal; he could still look sympathetic while mentally whining like a Skywalker wishing death on the people who spawned him. It had not exactly taken him long to develop that talent, living as he did.

Yeugh. Look at all the little suckers.

Daemon had taken Surreal to one of the Gates, asked her not to stab anyone on her first day, told her to be respectful of another Realm's cultures, and pushed her through.

Daemon, Surreal reflected, was an ass.

She wanted to bolt. Or stab something. This....city was strange and she didn't know what to make of the people and their clothing. But she found a corner in the lounge and slung down her sack, taking a seat next to it and repeatedly calling and vanishing one of her stilettos to help calm her nerves.

Annie wasn't sure what she was feeling today. It was more a mixture of things rather than any one emotion. Things like anxious. And excited. And nervous. And self-conscious. And excited some more.

Then she arrived to wait for the shuttle and saw other people, and all the excitement and self-consciousness amped itself up to the nth degree. But it was okay! It was just an opportunity to make new friends and gain new experiences. She just had to be friendly, and be herself. "Hi!"

After flying in from Wisconsin, Dave got to the terminal nice and early, waiting for the Fandom shuttle.

After thirty minutes had passed and he hadn't seen anyone close to his age, he realized his mistake and sprinted across the airport to the right terminal. He could move quickly when in a full panic, but he slowed down when he saw the large group of teenagers who hadn't left yet or anything.

But still, just to make sure this time, he asked, "This is the group for Fandom High, right?"
