BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

[Up early for SP! Please wait for OCD! The Ginger Express is now in service.]

"Colorado can't be half as bad as Montressor," Jim offered. Because somehow, that would make it all better, right? "But who knows. Maybe this place won't be completely stupid."

"Hopefully." A beat. "Don't freak out if things get weird."

"Weird... how?"

He was already standing in the Portalocity lounge in an... airport... on a planet he'd never heard of before. Jim was pretty sure he could handle a bit of weirdness. In fact, it was pretty welcome.

"Being attacked by Mongolians, adults acting dumber than normal, weird fads... you know," Stan said. "That kind of weird."

"... I think most adults would have to be actively trying, if they want to be dumber than some of the ones I've met," Jim offered.

No offense, Delbert.

"But I'll try to keep a cool head on my shoulders if people start doing strange things."

He was going to have to look up Mongolians when he got to the school, too.

"And don't get on any planes."

"That shouldn't be too difficult. I don't even know what those are."

Considering they were in an airport, that was kind of sad.

"...dude, that's weak."

Jim Hawkins: Kid Genius.

"Well, I'm kind of not from around here," he pointed out. Brilliantly.

"That's still pretty weak."

"Maybe. Are you going to tell me what it is, or am I going to have to figure it out on my own?"

Which he really didn't mind, but his list of things to look up was pretty large and growing ever larger as it was.

"Dude, we're at an airport," Stan said like that helped someone who didn't know about anything. "They're everywhere here."

Jim gave Stan that sort of look that you gave when you had just received one of the most unhelpful explanations that you had ever heard.

"Well, that clears everything up. Thanks."

Planes: Also going on Jim's list of things to look up.

"It's true!" Stan insisted. "Do you know what the shuttle is at least?"

"... You're going to call me weak again if I say it's a small ship, aren't you?"

Jim caught on fast.

"Duh." You got used to it, Jim.

"Oooookay then."

Jim was scratching 'it's a small ship' off of his list of possibilities.

"I'll know one when I see one, I guess."
