BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

"Hey, you want a coffee?" Marshall asked. "I'm heading down to Starbucks."

He paused. "Hopefully I'll make it back in time to, y'know, not miss the bus."

"No coffee," Mercy said, refraining from a shudder, "but I'm dying for a hot chocolate." She dug in her jeans to find a few dollars to give him. "Thanks, that's really nice of you. Do you need a hand?"

"Probably can't hurt!" Marshall grinned. "Thanks. Marshall Wheeler. I guess you're another Fandom kid, too?"

She nodded. "At least I'm about to be. You new, too?"

"Unfortunately," Marshall said, making a face. "Tried to convince my parents to let me stay at my old school."

So he could, y'know, help the search for his missing friend by experimenting with a secret wormhole, not that they knew that...

"I, uh... had to leave my old school months ago, so I guess this is me leaving my new school," Mercy said thoughtfully.

"At least it's supposed to be a good school?" Marshall offered. "I mean, if the brochures are anything to go by."

Of course, it didn't have a wormhole in the science teacher's office, like Marshall's last school. ... It couldn't, could it?

Mercy nodded. "And it sounds like a cool island. With the woods and ocean and everything."

"I wonder if there'll be anyone into music?" Marshall wondered. "I mean, not that I plan to be around long enough to really form a band, but it would be nice to jam some."

"Don't look at me," Mercy said. "They made me take piano lessons for ten years, but I hated it and I'm not any good."

Marshall shrugged. "I'm sure you're not that bad," he offered. "Or, hey, can you sing?"

She laughed. "I have a decent voice - better than my piano playing anyway. I've got pitch and volume, but no real talent."

"Well, I'm not talking about auditioning for Canadian Idol," Marshall pointed out, grinning. "Just having fun. Pitch and volume totally work for that."

"I'll think about it," she said with a chuckle, "but I'm not promising anything."
