BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

"Hey, I don't mind tech nubs," Topher said. As proof, he unzipped his backpack, and roughly one million wires sprung out.

"Topher Brink," he introduced himself.

"So I take it you're waiting for the bus too?" Freddie said. "It's really not cool going to school in summer, huh?"

"Not cool at all," Topher agreed. "I mean, all I would do at home is play Minecraft and program stuff, but still. It's summer."

Therefore, school? Not fun.

"...Minecraft?" Freddie said, not familiar. "Is that anything like World of WarLords?"

"Probably?"

If he meant World of Warcraft, sure. What kind of tech nub was this guy?

Well. A meta-ed up Nickelodeon one, Topher, that's what kind.

"Except it's not lame," he added.

"Dude, World of WarLords is not lame," Freddie said. "I mean, it's the number-one MMORPG for a reason. It's not exactly chiz."

"It's a little bit lame," Topher reasoned. "As for the chiz thing, bro, I've got nothing."

Topher wasn't exactly hip to slang.

Few were hip to the Nickelodeon-slang, really.

"I guess everyone's entitle to their opinion," Freddie said, ever the agreeable one. "But hey, if it runs on the new Pear OS, I'll check it out. The Mine-thingy, I mean. I like mines, I like crafts. Why not combine the two?"

"Exactly," Topher agreed adamantly, spurred on by Freddie's agreeable-ness. "Mines and crafts are the best."

Kind of?

That got Freddie to chuckle. "I'm guessing the game isn't that simple," he said. "So, what got you sent here? Hopefully you're not also the kind to dump a smoothie on a police officer's head."

He gave a pointed look in Sam's direction.

Huh. Well, apparently everyone around here was getting sent here. That boded well. Boarding school, man.

"Yelled at a teacher," he said with a shrug. "Changed my grade in the school database."

You know, normal teen stuff.

"Oh, neeeever do that," Freddie said. "Next thing you know, you're giving away microwaves to your principal and the CSA are at your door and it just gets ugly."
