BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

"Nnnnnnn!" Sam bit her lip to avoid saying something about that. He was starting already! No fair!

Freddie made a face. "Oh, fine," he said, putting it away. "I promise that I will try to be non-nubbish. At least not in public."

"Good. What you do in your own time is between you and your crazy mother."

"And none of that, now," Freddie said. "It's only between me and whatever I want to do. That's at least the one good thing about her crazy decision I needed to go to private school."

"Yeah, I totally didn't think she'd actually go for it, or I never would have given her the pamphlet for this place."

"You what?" Freddie said, his jaw dropped.

"Well I didn't wanna go here all by myself!"

"But you hate me!" Freddie said. "Why would you want me to come along to this place?"

"I knew Carly wouldn't leave. And I never said I hate you."

"You totally did," Freddie said. "I still have the birthday card you got me that says 'Happy Birthday, I hate you. Hate, Sam'."

Why would he keep that?

"Okay, so I have said it. Still . . . beats being stuck with a bunch of new nubs hanging around."

"Yeah, I guess you had to make sure one person wouldn't entirely object to hanging out with you," Freddie said, rolling his eyes. "Good luck finding a new friend that lets you steal all her food."

"I'm a loveable person," Sam said. "I pay back all the food I eat with entertainment."

"Hopefully people catch onto that fast," Freddie said. "Because I know I don't want you stealing all of my food."

Sam made a face. "Your food is all 'balanced' and stuff. Or are you leaving that behind with your mom's ear vacuum?"

"Hey, nutrition is important," Freddie said. "But you can bet that I'm not starting the day with oatmeal anymore. Sugary cereals, here I come!"

He was so rebellious.

"Screw cereal. It's not a real day unless it's fat cakes for breakfast."

Sam was raised on quality food, she was.

"Wow. I actually thought you'd be more of a bacon girl," Freddie said, amused.

"Bacon's expensive, when you're not getting it delivered to you every month."

"And Fat Cakes grow on trees?" Freddie remarked, a smug little smile on his face.

"Laugh it up, Fredward. I'll have you know I can get a whole box of those puppies for under five bucks."

"Without resorting to shoplifting?" Freddie asked, because that was a possibility.

"They can price it that low because there are no natural ingredients of any kind."

"That... does not surprise me," Freddie said. "And really, it makes sense that your favorite thing in the world is completely unnatural."

"Hey, I thought this deal of ours was supposed to go both ways."
