BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

After flying in from Wisconsin, Dave got to the terminal nice and early, waiting for the Fandom shuttle.

After thirty minutes had passed and he hadn't seen anyone close to his age, he realized his mistake and sprinted across the airport to the right terminal. He could move quickly when in a full panic, but he slowed down when he saw the large group of teenagers who hadn't left yet or anything.

But still, just to make sure this time, he asked, "This is the group for Fandom High, right?"

"It is," Angelica offered helpfully. "I think the bus should be here soon."

"Oh, good," Dave said. "I was in the wrong terminal for a while, so I was starting to worry that I missed it."

"Well, I'm glad you have a better sense of location than me," Dave said. "Oh, I'm sorry, I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Dave Nelson." He let go of the luggage he'd been dragging behind him during his sprint and offered a hand.

"Angelica Jones," Angelica said. She hesitated a fraction of a second, not wanting to be rude but worried about accidentally hurting Dave with her powers. Cautiously she took his hand and shook it.

"I was going to school in Massachusetts, but I'm here for the summer," she said. "Where are you from?"

"Wisconsin," Dave said, feeling just fine and not hurt at all after shaking hands. "I apparently thought it would be a good idea to get out of there just after winter ended."

"Well, as long as I'm with my kind, I should be fine. Nubs do well in packs," Dave said. Just like zebras. Get enough of them together and predators can't tell nerds from dorks from spazzes. "Hi, I'm Dave."

What? It was only polite to be on a first name basis with the people you were likely to torment.

Maybe that deal with Freddie wouldn't be so agonizing, after all.
