BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

[Up early for SP! Please wait for OCD! The Ginger Express is now in service.]

"Yeah? I haven't heard that much about it," Toby admitted, giving the girl an encouraging smile that he hoped would prompt her to reveal whatever else she knew about this Fandom place, either out loud or in her thoughts.

"Me neither," Mercy admitted. "Except that there's lots of wooded area on the island and a gun range and stuff like that."

Sorry, Toby. She doesn't know anything. Though he might catch odd thoughts about her being able to run free if she ever decided to shift again.

"A gun range? And teenagers?" Toby had to snort. "Because that's not a disaster waiting to happen."

Mercy raised an eyebrow. "I've been shooting at a range since I was a little kid. Even make my own bullets."

And he might catch images of her working with her foster father and her sadness at his suicide.

Toby's eyes seemed to lose focus briefly as those images flashed across his mind, but at least he managed not to wince or anything, because... eeeesh. Harsh.

"Yeah, but is that, you know, a typical experience?" Toby had to ask. He'd had a couple foster parents who'd owned guns, but none of them had ever suggested Toby so much as even pick one up.

She shrugged. "I'd imagine the range is run by responsible adults the way most of them are and if someone wants to use it they'll have to learn how to respect a weapon."

Toby was rather cynical when it came to the idea of responsible adults, honestly. It was hard not to be, when all his life he'd been able to see the things they never would admit to out loud. "Guess so," he just said instead, not wanting to press the issue further and annoy one of the first people he'd actually had a real conversation with in... god, days. "Toby Logan," he introduced himself.

"Mercedes Thompson," she responded, offering him a hand.

"So shipped off, huh?" Toby said, shaking her hand. "That sort of thing happen to you a lot?" He was more than a little familiar with the concept himself.

"Second time in less than a year," she admitted glumly.
