BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

"Thanks," Jocelyn replied, just stopping herself from readjusting it at the compliment. "My best friend gave it to me this winter. I forgot the mun-people would stare. We're more formal at home." She smiled at the girl. "I'm Jocelyn."

"Mun-people?" Angelica repeated, not sure of the meaning there.

"I'm Angelica. Where are you from?"

"Um. I was going to say mundanes. You know, just normal people," Jocelyn said. "And Idris - it's just a tiny country in Europe."

"Normal people?" Angelica glanced around and leaned forward, dropping her voice. "Are you a mutant?"

"A mutant?" she kept her voice a little low out of respect for Angelica's tone, but there was obviously a lot of confusion there. "No, I'm a Shadowhunter. What's a mutant?"

"You've never heard of mutants?" Angelica said. Well, she had no idea what a Shadowhunter was, so it was only fair. "They're people who aren't exactly normal. They have powers other people don't."

Well, that sounded familiar. "Powers like what?" Jocelyn said carefully.

"Like...being able to fly or turn into metal or walk through walls," Angelica said, squirming a little uncomfortably. Emma might get mad at her if she knew she was talking about stuff like this.

"Huh." Jocelyn noticed the nervousness and thought she should stop quizzing. It didn't sound like Downworlders so much - though they probably were. "It sounds a little like Shadowhunters only with more - variation. We're mostly born with some powers but the biggest is the ability to use the angel's marks." She extended her right hand to show the mark tattooed there.
