BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

[Up early for SP! Please wait for OCD! The Ginger Express is now in service.]

A thirteen-year-old boy with short black hair and a perpetual scowl rolled in a designer-label suitcase. He sat down on a chair away from the other students and took out a PSP to play a game.

Wow. That kid looked like a bundle of laughs. But, Freddie being the ever friendly type, took a hand off his PearPad and gestured at the boy's PSP.

"Is that the new handheld Gamestation?" he asked.

They didn't have Playstation in his universe.

Damian scoffed. "It's a PSP. It's been out for years. It's practically primitive."

"PSP?" Freddie said, having not heard that before. "I don't remember Pear coming out with anything like that, is it a knockoff?"

Damian gave him a disgusted look. "No. I don't use knockoffs."

"Hey, I'm not judging," Freddie said, putting up his hands. "I just never heard of it before, and I'm normally really up on video game stuff. Well, not as much as I know about video equipment or sandpaper, but I have an interest."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] bat-spawn.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
"What's your interest in sandpaper?" Damian asked.

Oh, Damian, you possibly should not have asked that.

"Well, there's lots of different kinds," Freddie explained. "Like you can get 40 grit or 60 grit or even 80 grit. And if you really want to get fine they go up to 150 grit or even 200 grit."

You should probably stop him.

"Why would you need sandpaper that fine?" Damian asked.

"Oh, you know, fine wood polishing, metal buffing, that sort of thing," Freddie said. "Fascinating, isn't it?"

Yes, he was that weird of a nerd.

The other thirteen-year-old studied him quietly, debating whether or not the antisocial thing was an act and if it was safe to make a friendly overture.

Damian continued to scowl at his game.

So that was a no? Right then.

Damian looked up from his game. "Are you watching me?" he demanded.

Yeah, because Alex totally had nothing better to do than stare at some cranky kid. "No?"

"Good," Damian said. "See that you don't."

"Okay then," Alex scoffed, then muttered, "Rude much?"

"Oh, cool! You have the PSP," said the kid from a podunk town. "What games do you have?"

Yes, make friends with the person with fun games, Stan. Good. Good.

[identity profile] bat-spawn.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"All the good ones," Damian said loftily. "What kind of games do you have?"

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] andthemoralis.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"The good ones too," Stan replied, like that should have been totally obvious. Even though he didn't actually own a PSP. He wasn't about to let some kid be better than him. "Duh."

There, point made. Score one for Stan.

"What's your favorite?" Damian asked suspiciously.

"Chinpokemon," Stan shot back, thinking of a game at random. "I got Shoe already."

"Tt! Baby stuff," Damian scoffed.

"Says the kid. Are you even old enough to be here?" Stan, this was a bad idea?

"I'm mature for my age," Damian said.
