BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

[Up early for SP! Please wait for OCD! The Ginger Express is now in service.]

Jack approached the shuttle lounge with a sense of trepidation.

"High school," he muttered to himself. "Oh, yeah. This is going to end well."

"I'm hoping it'll end in tears, personally," Sam said cheerfully. She kind of just assumed people around her were talking to her when they spoke.

"You look too happy to be one of those emo goth girls with the grim outlook on life," Jack commented. "Or are you just really into catharsis?"
hurtingzeebo: (I give you my "ORLY?" face)

"And you look like just the kind of guy who uses 'catharsis' in every day speech." That wasn't a compliment, either.

"Yeah, well I got one of those 'word-a-day' toilet paper things as a gift for Christmas," Jack joked. "I'm still trying to figure out how to work 'humicubation' into an conversation without sounding elitist. Hey! Look. Another word a learned. 'Elitist.'"
hurtingzeebo: (I'm sad at the ceiling)

"You read your toilet paper? Wait, how do they know how much you use in a day?"

Yes, those were totally the important parts of that statement.

"Tell me about it," Mercy said quietly.

"Weeeellll," Jack drawled, "Let's see. Zits. Trigonometry. Do I really need to go past trigonometry? Because I'm tearing up at the thought of it."
walkswithcoyote: (Pensive black and white)

"Oh now, those are cheerful thoughts," Mercy said, shaking her head. "I hadn't even considered trigonometry. Thanks."

"Unfortunately there's no Noxema for trig," Jack replied. "Because I'd like to make that homework disappear."

He held out his hand for a handshake.

"Jack Carter."

She hesitated then took his hand. "Mercedes Thompson. I'd say it's nice to meet you, but I'm not sure yet with all this talk of trig and pimples."

"It's just summer camp, dude," Stan said, glancing over at him. "As long as you didn't forget to bring a towel, it should be fine."

"Damn it," Jack said with a snap of his fingers. "No towel. Now I'm really screwed."

"Just don't mention it too much." A beat. "Unless you like getting high."

Jack paused and gave Stan a loooooooong puzzled look.

"Okay... I think I'm missing something here about the towel."

"Towelie will show up and remind you to bring a towel and then want to get high," Stan said the same way someone would give directions. "Which is sad because he was clean for almost three years there."

"It might not be so bad," Alex said, trying to be reassuring even though he still wasn't 100% sold himself.

"Yeah well I'm just being pessimistic so if it turns out okay, I'll be pleasantly surprised," Jack joked. "Lower expectations. Gotta love it."

"I guess that's one way to do it," Alex mused, tilting his head thoughtfully, like it had never occurred to him. Which it hadn't. "Oh, hey. I'm Alex."

"Well, it will," offered Butters with a chuckle, "so long as you stay away from drugs and from alcohol and from sex with disease-ridden floozies!"

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Well I want to have a little fun," Jack said with a chuckle. "Well except for the disease-ridden floozies part. Annnnnnd probably the drugs. Yep. Just going to stick with booze. Yep. Booze."

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I'd stick away from booze, too," Butters advised earnestly. "Or else you'll wind up all poor and stupid like Kenny's dad, or havin' a disease like Stan's."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Well I don't know who Kenny and Stan are," Jack said in a pacifying yet amused tone, "But I'm sure they had they're reasons for getting blind stupid drunk."
