BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

[Up early for SP! Please wait for OCD! The Ginger Express is now in service.]

With a sack with a few changes of clothes slung over one shoulder, and his solar surfer tucked up under the other armpit, Jim had found his way into the terminal with a slightly baffled look on his face. He had been expecting this whole experience to suck. A lot. And so far, he hadn't been totally disappointed in that regard.

What he hadn't been expecting was the portal. He'd really had more of a charter ship in mind, not a... an... airport? What the ship was an airport, anyhow?

He wrinkled his nose as he looked around the lounge one more time. On Earth for ten minutes, and already he wanted to go back to stupid, boring old Montressor.

"Hey." Yeah, this was an eloquent guy here. You could just tell.

Jim could so totally tell.

"Hey," he replied, nodding his head a bit. "Uh... Fandom, right?"

Eloquence in spades, between the two of them.

Stan nodded along with that. "Fandom," he confirmed. "Unless something happens."

Something always happened.

"What, like the shuttle being attacked by pirates, or something?"

Jim, don't sound excited about that. It wasn't that kind of shuttle.

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] andthemoralis.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe," Stan admitted. "I'm just not up for another adventure today. If it happens, I'm out. Everyone else can deal with it."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Jim's eyebrows were inching up his forehead, little by little. "I think I could probably stand an adventure or two, if you want to sit out on it. More for me."

Whatever they could dish out on the trip to this island, Jim was pretty sure he could handle it. Because, being fifteen, he was invincible. Ish. In his head.

"I got enough of that crap when I destroyed Japanese ships," Stan replied with a shrug. "It's less cool than you think."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"You've destroyed ships?" Okay, now Jim was trying not to be totally impressed, on the strong suspicion that this guy was completely pulling his leg.

He had to be, right?

"... Really?"

"They were killing whales and the people trying to stop them were a bunch of pussies, so... yeah."

WHEN HE WAS IN THE 4th GRADE.

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
ALL JIM EVER DID IN THE 4TH GRADE WAS PULL THE HAIR OF THE KID SITTING IN FRONT OF HIM.

AND FLY ON A SURFBOARD THAT HE BUILT HIMSELF.

"Wait, killing whales?" Like the Orcus Galacticus that Delbert mentioned from time to time? "Why would anyone want to do that?"

[identity profile] andthemoralis.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"They were convinced that a whale and a dolphin dropped atomic bombs on them, so they killed all the whales they could find," Stan said with all the sincerity in the world.

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Which had Jim staring.

You know. A little.

"Okay, I can... kind of see maybe somebody using them to drop bombs on them, but last I checked, whales didn't even have fingers to build a bomb with, right?"

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] andthemoralis.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah," Stan replied with a blase little nod. "It was a plot by the American government to make the Japanese less pissed at them for doing the bombing. They photoshopped pictures of whales and dolphins doing it, though."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a long moment of silence while Jim attempted to absorb some of that.

No dice.

"Photoshopped?"

American?

Japanese?

Earth was already weird. Congratulations.

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] andthemoralis.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, photoshopped," Stan replied, like that should be obvious. "Do you not have a computer or something?"

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim shook his head a little. At least he knew what that meant. But mention Windows to him, and he'd probably pull a BSoD.

"No, not really," he admitted. "Books and stuff, sure. But anything with processing power higher than a basic navigational system is difficult to come by, back home."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] andthemoralis.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ohhhh." Stan totally got that. "I have a friend who's poor too. It's cool, man. You can borrow mine if you need."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uh... thanks."

Sound more enthusiastic, Jim.

He'd probably feel better once he realized that the storybook he'd been reading as a three-year-old was more technologically advanced than the computer that this guy was offering to share.

[identity profile] andthemoralis.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, as long as he wasn't a douche about it...

"Just don't do any Facebook crap on it," Stan warned. "It sucks you in."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Facebook?"

And now they were right back where they started!

"Just stay away from it." Goddamn Yatzee.

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll try to keep that in mind," Jim decided, trying a wary smile on for size. "Thanks for the warning, uh..."

He waved a hand a little.

"You."

"Stan," he replied. "Stan Marsh. From Colorado."

"Woah," said Sam, eying the solar surfer. "You could brain an ostrich with that thing."

Sam could actually brain an ostrich with a lot of things. And possibly knew this from experience.
