BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

[Up early for SP! Please wait for OCD! The Ginger Express is now in service.]

Billy had been moping ever since his parents had told him he was being shipped off to a boarding school for the summer, and yet, here he was, dragging his suitcase behind him as he joined the crowd. It wasn't like he couldn't just pop back to New York with a thought, but the idea of being so far from his friends made his stomach hurt, and the idea of making new friends...well, it was a school, so he wasn't sure how likely that was. Then again, the other kids who were waiting didn't exactly look like he was expecting, and he was trying to watch without staring at anyone awkwardly.

Wow, that guy was just made of awkward.

Stan gave him the patented guy chin lift as a greeting. Anything more enthusiastic and you got kicked out of the gender. "Fandom?"

"Yeah," Billy said, looking a little more relieved at at least being in the right place. "Do you know anything about this place?" He'd tried to research, but it didn't really get him anywhere.

"All I know is that there's no baseball." Thank god for that. "Which is enough for me."

"Not a fan of sports?" Billy said. He could certainly appreciate that sentiment, although he was less fond of jocks, really.

"Have you played baseball? All it does is fill your summer with suckass."

"But all those baseball movies make it sound like that's how guys have the best summer ever," Billy said sarcastically. "That's all been a lie?"

"Huge lie," Stan replied seriously. "Huge. I only played because my dad wanted me to. And all he did the whole time was get drunk and get into fights with other dads at the game."

"Okay, that really does suck," Billy said. "Are you being sent to Fandom for something else then?"

"I dunno, my parents decided it would be a nice change of pace from Colorado. I'd rather be back home playing video games like normal people."

Oh, Okama Gamesphere. He missed you already.

"Do you think they have rules against video games? I was hoping my parents would be able to send me my games and stuff after a little while." Sure, he could get by with just books for a while, but geeks were not meant to live on literature alone.

Alex waved at the not-particularly-happy-looking guy and asked, "Getting shipped to boarding school, too, huh?"

"Yeah, I get that. My parents think it'll be good for me, and I don't want to make them mad or anything." Because Billy was a dork like that. "I just wish they'd talked to me before signing me up."

"Really?" Billy said, perking up for a moment before really thinking about it. "I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I mean, on one hand, that's kind of cool. On the other hand, you know, he is kind of nuts."

Topher was going to go ahead and be civilized. So when he was on his way back from the airport newsstand with nine tubes of Pringles in his hands, he flopped down in a seat opposite Billy and held out a random selection.

"Pringles?" he offered.
selfhelphero: ([pos] laughing and grinning)

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[personal profile] selfhelphero 2011-05-07 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Billy looked over at the assortment of tubes and laughed. "Did you buy all the Pringles here?" he asked. "I'll, uh, take some if you're sharing."

Yup! Topher really, really liked Pringles.

"Go for it," he offered. "Got basically all the flavors." Except the sour cream and onion. That, he was hiding in his bag. Yum.

"Thanks," Billy said, taking one of the plain ones. Those were the best, in his opinion. "Maybe I should save these in case the food at the school sucks."

Wh-- but-- oh, all right.

"Yeah, go for it," Topher said, as if it hadn't been an offer to share rather than to keep. Ugh. Socializing was hard work. And correcting misconceptions was even harder, so he just wasn't going to bother.
