BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

Annie wasn't sure what she was feeling today. It was more a mixture of things rather than any one emotion. Things like anxious. And excited. And nervous. And self-conscious. And excited some more.

Then she arrived to wait for the shuttle and saw other people, and all the excitement and self-consciousness amped itself up to the nth degree. But it was okay! It was just an opportunity to make new friends and gain new experiences. She just had to be friendly, and be herself. "Hi!"

See, friendly.

"Hi!" said Butters, who thought it was only polite to say hello back to someone who said hello first. So long as that person wasn't a ginger, which she wasn't, so the greeting was a go!

See, he was being friendly, too. This was easy. "I'm Annie," she said, and then something occurred to her. "You are going to Fandom High, right? I'm not just introducing myself randomly to people I'll never see again?"

"I...I sure hope so!" said Butters with a little laugh. "That's where I'm supposed to be goin', and I mean, ya might not ever see me again, but that'd just be sad. I'm Butters!"

And, in a tone that seemed to try to suggest toughness but had no chance in hell of managing it, and banking on the fact that he was still on his way to another rehabilitation camp, he asked, "So what're you in for?"

Meanwhile Annie had never actually heard that phrase outside of television. Specifically prison movies. Thus, she was confused. "In for? In where?"

"For camp," Butters explained. "What'd you do to have...have your parents send you away for it?"

He might be digging for clues on what it was he might have done himself.

"Nothing," she said, just a little too quickly. And then she added in the true part. "I wanted to come here. It sounded like fun, you know? Camp where you can also go to school, get to meet new people.... Why, what are you in for?"

Maybe she should have asked that first.

"I...don't know," Butters admitted, his shoulders sagging down as he took a moment to just feel a little sad about that. "But I'm sure I did something. I'm always misbehavin', so it's probably something I deserve."

Awww.

"Awww, don't look at it like that!" Annie said. "I mean, it could be cool. Maybe it's really a reward for doing something good."

Annie was maybe trying really hard to focus on the positives. Did it show?

"O-oh, boy!" That sort of effort was really infectious. Or, at least it was to someone like Butters. "D-do you really think so?"

But sometimes even reality could catch up with Butters, and, just as quickly as he got excited, he got depressed again. "Aw, shucks, Annie. That can't be it, because I never do anything good."

"Then maybe," she said, with all the experience of someone who was totally trying this right now and therefore she could be all lofty about it, "this is a chance to turn over a new leaf."

"Y-yeah!" Butters said, clenching a fist with conviction. "Turnin' over...turning over a new leaf! W-why, I'll get back home and my parents won't even recognize me, I'll be so...new leafy. L-like a beautiful butterfly, come out of its coccoon after...after being an ugly ol' little caterpillar!"

"Just like a butterfly," Annie said proudly. "Keep that up and you'll do just fine, I know it."

"Hey." Yeah, Stan was totally too cool for girls to make him nervous. Even if she was kinda old ~~and had major boobage~~....

"Hello, fellow Fandom High student!" Annie greeted him, now that she knew everyone here was going the same place she was. Or at least the other guy was, and that was enough. "I'm Annie. What's your name?"

See, look at her, making friends!

"Stan Marsh," he replied, eyes wide at her cheer. And... breasts.

For the moment, Annie was too wrapped up in her own excitement about everything to notice silly things like where he was looking. Who'd look there, anyway? "Hi, Stan. Where are you from?"

It was Bebe all over again...

"South Park," he said, managing to look up at all that cheer. "It's a small town by Denver."

"Really? I'm from Greendale," she said. "I thought everyone here would be more local. ...I've never heard of South Park, though."

"I've never heard of Greendale either," Stan admitted. "Maybe they had a Colorado scholarship?"

"If it was a scholarship, I wouldn't be getting it," Annie replied, dropping some of the perkiness juuust a little. "Or maybe they just had really good advertising."

"Summer camp scholarships not big in Greendale?" Stan asked slowly.

"I don't know, I never asked," she said just as slowly. "Why, should they be?"

"Well, I'm assuming that's how my parents sent me here." A beat. "Butters is always going to camp for something, I think. At least it's not sex addiction this time."

Annie stared.

"Wait, that kid?" she said, gesturing to Butters. "He went to camp for..." Well, she wasn't going to say it. "...that?"
