BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

[Up early for SP! Please wait for OCD! The Ginger Express is now in service.]

Alex was carrying a backpack, a sword in a padded sheath, and a small duffel bag when he arrived in the lounge. The rest of his assorted stuff was being shipped, but he'd needed clothes for a few days and stuff, and like hell he was trusting Grasscutter to FedEx.

A quick scan of the people in the room turned up all teenagers, so he was probably in the right place, but just to be sure, he asked, "Fandom High, right?"

Mercy nodded, trying not to look glum. "You going there too?"

Alex nodded and said, "It was that or--actually, I don't think there was an 'or.' Dad's not much on options. Oh, uh, I'm Alex."

"Mercedes Thompson. Nice to meet you, Alex." Mercy shrugged. "There was an 'or' for me, I guess, but this seemed like the best choice."

"Dad said I might be able to find an adventure here. That would be cool. But, yeah, I'd missed so much school in New York--" even without being dead "--they were going to make me repeat eighth grade." If they could even find a school that would take Ares' son.

She winced. "I can see where that would be something you didn't want to do."

"I know, right? So." He shrugged. "Boarding school. What about you?"

"I hope so, otherwise I'm fucked." Stan, stop being kind to people you don't know.

"Well, then I hope so too!" Alex said. "That would be bad."

It could have been worse, though. At least it was a mildly normal place. Kinda.

Damn it all.

"As long as this place doesn't end up being some freakin' cult or slave labor camp, it can't be too bad, though."

"I don't think Nicholas would tell my dad to send me to a slave labor camp, so you're probably safe," Alex said, trying to be reassuring.

"Yeah, but adults are morons," Stan replied, speaking from so much experience dealing with it.

"That's true sometimes," Alex agreed. "But not my dad! Except for that whole Osborn thing. And Nicholas isn't most of the time either."

Her attention was drawn by that padded sheath more than the question. Look, weapons were cool, okay? "Anyone give you problems with that?" Jocelyn asked, lifting her chin towards that part of his luggage.

Alex shrugged and admitted, "I didn't come by commercial air, so I didn't go through security. But I have the paperwork and everything." The paperwork still probably shouldn't have let a thirteen-year-old cart a katana around, but it had SHIELD authorizations stamped all over it, which changed the game immensely.

And now she was startled. "You have paperwork for your weapons? Who checks on stuff like that?"

"I don't know, but if they did and I didn't have them, they'd try to take Grasscutter away from me, and then I'd have to hurt them, because that's not happening." He said this like it was the simplest thing in the world.

"Clearly," Jocelyn agreed, pleased to find someone who understood these things. Even if he did look barely old enough to for his first marks. "No point in hurting the uninvolved unless you have. I'm Jocelyn."

"Ohhhh, b-boy," said Butters, catching the question with a nervous little twist of his fingers, "I sure hope so. I'd sure hate to find out I was boarding the wrong bus and wound up somewhere in Mexico, or something. I'd be g-grounded again for sure."

Re: Wait for the Shuttle! [5/7/11]

[personal profile] godofxbox 2011-05-06 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, but at least it would be an adventure?" Alex tried.

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"H-hey, yeah!" Butters had to agree a little bit there, gaining a bright smile. "Sure, lots of adventures can be lots of fun, but, well..." And here the brightness began to fade, "othertimes, it's not fun. Not fun at all..."

"Sure they are, that's the whole point of an adventure. Well, that and to help people, sometimes," Alex added. Then he thought for a moment and said, "Actually, if you got on the wrong bus I'm sure you'd realize it before you got to Mexico. That's like way further away than the school."

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but you'd still have to find your way back," Butters pointed out. "I'd just wait until we got to Mexico, 'cause then you'd at least know where you were."
godofxbox: (doubtful)

"But then you'd be way too far away from where you needed to be," Alex pointed out.

Not that this was a problem for him, but, you know, for other people.

((Sorry! Technical difficulties on this end. I blame LJ.))
