BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Emma had flown with Angelica from Logan Airport in Boston to Baltimore so she wouldn't have to make the entire trip alone, and Angelica was grateful for that. But after a hug goodbye when the time came for Emma's flight back to Massachusetts, Angelica was alone in the lounge, waiting for the bus to Fandom High. She buried her face in a book and tried not to be too nervous about changing schools, counting out the positives. She might make new friends. Empath and Roulette wouldn't be there. She might accidentally fry someone with her microwave powers.

Oooookay, that last one wasn't too positive.

"Want anything at Starbucks?" Marshall asked. He held up pad and pen. "I'm doing a run down, I mean. If you want something."

Kate stared at him. "For what?"

Yeah, Starbucks did not exist in post-apocalyptic Atlanta. A sad fact.

"... Coffee?" Marshall explained, narrowing his eyes slightly in confusion. Who didn't know Starbucks? They were only our new Caffeinated Overlords. "Delicious giver of caffeine? I mean, it's no Red Bull, but it'll do in a pinch. Or, y'know, hot chocolate, or tea, or whatever. It's not like I'll only pick up coffee."

Oh, see coffee, that she knew.

"You couldn't have just said 'I'm getting coffee'?" she wondered, digging a hand into her pocket to see if she even had change. Not knowing things bugged Kate, just a little.

"Some people are particular," he pointed out. "I mean, back home, I'm totally a Tim Hortons kinda guy, but you don't see them much in the States. I figured it was probably safer to go with somewhere most people would know."

Kate's world, being particular was a bad trait to have. Things sold as 'chicken' were more likely to be dog, coffee... "So long as it doesn't have mud in, I'll drink it."

Thing was, the chances of them actually taking the future money she had to offer was extremely unlikely.

"... I think I can guarantee there won't be mud, yeah." Marshall was pretty sure, anyway. Unless the recipe was really different than what they used up in Canada.

Well, where she was from, there were no guarantees, so he'd have to forgive her raised eyebrows. Suspicion was just her way.

Still, she offered up a ten dollar bill. Hoping like hell she hadn't misread the guy as someone to grab the money and peg it.

"I guess coffee then. Nothing fancy." She probably couldn't afford fancy.

Hey, it's not like Marshall knew the difference with the American money. He could barely tell a $10 from a $1 half the time.

"Nothing fancy it is!" He smiled at her. "Be back with that soon, then."

And Kate... hadn't bothered to ask anyone what year it was yet. Her world had many, many oddities. Time travel was not one of them, so it didn't even cross her mind.

Despite his assurances, yes she was going to keep an eye on him as he scurried away.
