Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

[Yes, the schoolgrounds have snow. I'm weathermodding and saying it's cool enough today through this evening for it to stick, and it'll melt overnight. And yes, we're having Festivus in July. For those not in the know, here is a handy Wiki link! Please wait for OCD. Up, yay!]

Food!

There's all kinds of food that one might associate with any holiday that takes place in early winter. Including actual snow cones, because it is still summer, and Rory had kind of gotten a deal for buying in bulk.

There was also a sign on the table, which read:

As per Festivus tradition, the Airing of Grievances shall take place during your meal. Please remember to tell your friends how they have disappointed you this year.

Additionally, there had been quite a few picnic tables set up. For eating-away-from-the-snow purposes, you see.

[Quick note on the airing of grievances - please play nicely. Be silly about it, and remember that OOC communication does, in fact, equal love.]

Willow pounced on the latkes like a latkes-pouncing thing. There really was no form of cooked potato that could not bring some kind of happiness.

Eventually she'd eat something healthier.

Plate of food in hand, Sakurazaki sort of stares at the sign with a quirked eyebrow. "Airing of Grievances"? What the hell did that mean? It sort of irked her a little bit that she was now having to bring her dictionary to the school events in order to understand them. She sighs. Maybe someone would explain it.

Oh. And she was wearing The Hat (http://bound2blade.livejournal.com/12658.html). In case she needed to ninja on this colder day. Although it wasn't that cold. But she could be cute like that sometimes.

"Airing of grievances?" Anakin read aloud. "Seriously?" He filled his plate with various fried and sugary things he couldn't identify and hoped that he wouldn't end up in a pageant.

Snow--even fake snow--was a treat for a desert boy and he wasn't planning on going inside until it had melted.

Feats of Strength

A smallish area had been cleared, and there was another sign:

As we have no "head of the family" (unless you'd care to give it a shot, Principal Washburn?), anyone my test his or her strength against one participant of the head's choosing. Festivus is traditionally not considered concluded until the challenger has been pinned to the ground. A participant is allowed to decline only if they have something better to do instead.

[So basically? Wrestling. Clean, simple, wrestling. No fighting dirty or you'll be yelled at omg. Please ping into this thread if you'd like to be challenged, or challenge someone who's already established themselves here.]

River lay down on her back and waved her arms and legs to make a snow angel. Some traditions had survived to the future, even moving to another solar system.

It was a bit chilly without the winter clothes however.

She wondered if Berthold liked snow. It did resemble ice cream a little, only without the cream.

Snow. Dean shook his head. This place just never stopped being weird. But least this was a non-lethal weird.

Peter was more than a bit uncomfortable about the snow in July situation. It was Fandom, true, but winter outside of winter was never a good situation.
