Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

Flight workshop and secret possibly got him a bit nervous. "F-16s rock. What secret?"

Molly sighed at him. "I just told you that I couldn't tell you. Otherwise it wouldn't be a secret."

"Then why did you tell me? Now I know you've got a secret," Cameron whined at her.

Molly grinned again. "Because half the fun of having a secret is letting people know you have one and then not telling them what it is."

Cameron rolled his eyes. "There's another word for that. It's called mean."

Molly giggled. "Telling would ruin the pr- surprise and you won't have to wait that long anyway."

"How long is not long?" he asked curiously.

Molly grinned again. "I'm not going to tell you," she said in a sing song voice again.

Cameron groaned and rubbed at his eyes. "You're going to be smug about this as much as you can, aren't you?"

"Yes," she said, still grinning. "Because it is a great secret and it makes me laugh."

He felt like headdesking, but he didn't want to end up with his forehead in his food. "No fair."

Molly was still grinning. "Do you tell me your secrets?"

"Depends on the secret," he might be getting nervous now.

"See, and I don't expect you to," she said. "This is a secret that everybody will know about eventually, but it would ruin it for other people if I told it now. That is why I mentioned it, but can't tell you."

"No, you mentioned it so you can drive me crazy," Cameron argued.

Molly grinned brightly at him and licked the peppermint stick again before answering. "That's just a bonus," she said.

Cameron leaned forward. "E. V. I. L," he spelled out to her.

Molly looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes. "Me? Never," she said with a little shake of her head.

Yeah, this was going to drive him crazy. "So how are you beside being secretive and mean?" he tried.

"I'm good!" Molly said. "Well, except for messing up the cake in Baking on Monday. That was disappointing."

"I'm sorry. You'll do better next time," Cameron assured her.

"It's all the coffee's fault," she said with a pout.

"Coffee is evil too," Cameron nodded. "There, that's my grievance for the week."

"Tsk. You stole mine," Molly said. "That'll be my grievance. That you are a grievance stealer."

Cameron considered it for a moment and shrugged. "I can live with that."
