Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

Cameron narrowed his eyes. "Evil," he repeated.

Molly laughed and changed the subject again. "Are you ready for the basketball game tomorrow?"

"As ready as I'll ever be? If I don't get detention or sprain my ankle for real," he replied. "How about you for cheerleading?"

Molly made a 'so-so' hand gesture. "I've been practicing by myself whenever I can get to the gym, but Wednesday was the first scheduled practice I'd been to in a while. It also sounds like there haven't been that many actual practices since Buffy left."

"Sounds like you need to get a new leader to run things," he tilted his head. "Have you considered a coup?"

Molly grinned. "Maybe I'll just offer to help Marie and Alec first," she said.

"Nah, you got to be more ambitious," Cameron grinned.

Molly raised an eyebrow. "I need to get myself into a good position before I try anything though. Get an idea of what I'm up against."

"Smart," he nodded. "Recon is very important."

Molly lifted her chin proudly. "Nico thought I never paid attention during planning meetings, but I did."

"Uh huh, because you're sneaky," he teased.

Molly narrowed her eyes at Cameron. "I can be," she said a bit defensively.

"I know," he assured her, this time serious.

"Good," she said with a nod. "You wouldn't want me to prove how sneaky I can be."

"Isn't keeping a secret already being sneaky?" Cameron asked and yes, he'd brought the topic back to that.

"If I was really being sneaky, I wouldn't have told you about the secret at all," Molly pointed out.

"Can I at least get a deadline about when you're going to stop torturing me about his?" Cameron asked, already imagining himself wearing a straight-jacket.

"Hmmmm." Molly tapped her peppermint stick against her lips. "Ask me again in a week," she finally said.

Yep. Definitely a straight-jacket. He wondered if he could get them in other colours than white. He totally headtabled.

Molly stifled a laugh and patted him on the head. "If I'd know it would bug you this much I wouldn't have..." She paused. "Nah, I still would have mentioned it," she said, finally laughing.

"Have I mentioned that you're mean?" Cameron asked her conversationally.

"Yes, I think you have," Molly responded with a grin.

"Good, because it should be clear by now," he said sternly, his tone at odds with his grin.

"Yes, it is very clear," Molly said with an exaggerated sigh of sadness. "I am very mean. But, what are ya gonna do?" She shook her head sadly.

Cameron pondered it. "Tickle it out of you?"
