Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

[Yes, the schoolgrounds have snow. I'm weathermodding and saying it's cool enough today through this evening for it to stick, and it'll melt overnight. And yes, we're having Festivus in July. For those not in the know, here is a handy Wiki link! Please wait for OCD. Up, yay!]

Z was busy attempting to make a head for the snowman, but it looked like it had some sort of unfortunate birth defect, so she was thinking of starting over on that. "Yeah, I've never seen snow before. Isn't it cool?"

Conner watched the two handfuls of snow he'd applied to the malformed headless snowman sort of just fall off, and sighed. "It really is. You so didn't get snow in Reefside."

"Or in Newtech. Obviously. Maybe we should just call this one a failure and try again?"

"Yeah, this one's beyond help," Conner agreed, already trying to roll a new snowball for the snowman's, uh, feet-type parts. "I vote for starting from scratch too."

"If we make enough of them, we have to get better at this, right?" Z asked, already working on the torso-y ball.

"Practice is supposed to make perfect and everything," Conner pointed out. "It works for most other stuff, so why not snowman-building?"

Wow, this snowman was going to have big . . . feet.

...and a cylindrical torso. "So by the hundredth one, it should look halfway decent?"

"If we don't run out of snow by then." The snowman really was going to have feet, as in a pair of them, because Conner's snowball had broken in half under its own weight apparently.

"Then we'll have to move to Antarctica and keep practicing, or something."

"Is there even snow in Antarctica, or is it just ice?"
multiplez: (I dunno!)

"I don't know. There are penguins?"

Re: Non-Festivus things

Conner considered his broken snowball. "You think a snow penguin would be easier?"

"Maybe if it was an abstract snow penguin?"

"Modern snow art? I can go for that."
multiplez: (Z hmm)

Z set her snow cylinder on top of the broken snowball. "Well, we're well on our way..."

Conner snickered. "Good thing I didn't go with my original snow Megazord idea."

Z laughed. "Yeah, I don't think that would've worked out well."

"I know. It's just too confusing. It's much better to stick with this nice abstract snow penguin, here."

Re: Non-Festivus things

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
"It's a very nice abstract snow penguin, too. Very . . . abstract."

"Yep. Very modern." Z patted their creation and ignored the chunk of snow that fell off.

"I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about," Z said in her best, 'Stolen goods? What stolen goods, officer?' manner.
