Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

[Yes, the schoolgrounds have snow. I'm weathermodding and saying it's cool enough today through this evening for it to stick, and it'll melt overnight. And yes, we're having Festivus in July. For those not in the know, here is a handy Wiki link! Please wait for OCD. Up, yay!]

Laughing, Isabel finally walked over. "Having a problem?"

"A plant is poking me," Greg said sadly.

She held out her hand and the mistletoe floated down to land in it. "I got this back when I still thought this was going to be a Christmas in July celebration."

"Indeed it is," she nodded. "Imagine that."

Greg pretended to consider, and then went back to making snowballs.

Isabel tucked the mistletoe in her pocket, grabbed some snow and attempted to drop it down the back of Greg's shirt.

"Something wrong?" she asked innocently.

"Awww... Poor baby," Isabel drawled. "Need to be warmed up?"

Isabel took off the hoodie she'd been wearing and draped it over his shoulders. "Does that help?"

Greg considered this, and shook his head. "Not what I had in mind. I think the plant was thinking something else, too."

"Oh really?" she asked. "You can talk to plants now?"

"I commune with them," Greg said solemnly.

"And what is the mistletoe saying now?" Pulling the mistletoe out of her pocket, she sent it floating into the air.

Greg tilted his head, considering, and motioned for her to come closer. "It's a secret."

Isabel stepped a little closer, "Really? But you'll tell me?"

"I promise," he said, motioning her closer still.

"Okay then." Smiling she stepped up very close and placed her hands on his waist. "Close enough?"
