Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

"Happy Day of Cooler Temperatures it is then," Isabel grinned. "So what have you been up to? What workshops are you taking this time around?"

"I'm taking Astronomy, Kludge's universe and Jarod's class about lying," Cameron told her. "I heard you're in cooking?"

"Which means Molly told you about the failure of our chocolate cake." She sighed sadly. "I really should have realized we'd have replace that much liquid with something else."

"She just mentioned that she didn't have anything for me to eat because it didn't turn out," he nodded. "You'll get it right next time?"

"Oh yes. Absolutly," Isabel said firmly. "I'm going to retry the recipe and substitute milk for the coffee next time. I think it'll turn out fine then."

"Let me know when you do?" he asked with a smile.

"You're going to be the official taste tester?" she grinned. "Although I suppose you'd be a good guinea pig before I let Greg have any."

"It's all about priorities," Cameron laughed. "I don't mind, just as long as it doesn't have anything that will make me sing or worse."

"Well so far everything I've made for him has been good. I wouldn't want to ruin things at this point." Isabel laughed, "You're the second person this week that's asked if my baked goods would cause weird side effects. Did you get caught up in Saturday's insanity?"

"I got caught up in a insanity, but probably not the one you're referring too," Cameron laughed. "Food and Fandom just aren't the best combination."

"Oh? What did I miss?" Isabel asked.

"Detention," he grinned. "That's probably a good thing. It was just really weird."

"Missing detention is always a good thing," she said with a mild shudder. "I don't care if you get one of the fun glittery ones."

"No glitter," he shook his head. "Muppets and chocolate moose."

Isabel remembered Muppet chickens invading her room and blinked. "But not together right?"

"Will you believe me if I say that was exactly how it was?"

"But wouldn't that get messy?"

"Yeah, especially if the muppet moose you're trying to rub in with chocolate pudding decides to spill it on you," Cameron explained.

"You were rubbing down a muppet moose with chocolate pudding?" Isabel burst out laughing. "Oh my god. Why? Who would make you do that?"

"The Chef from the cafeteria. Apparently he thinks it's a fundamental skill for any good cook," he paused. "He thinks I've got talent. It's a bit disturbing."

Isabel made a mental note never to eat the chocolate pudding in the cafeteria again. "I'd say."

"How goes the application process?"

"Well, it wasn't easy. I had to talk him into it which involved getting him to smell the chocolate first and then show him it really wasn't so bad to get some on yourself. And then once he was good with it, it wasn't all too hard. The antlers were a bit tricky, though," Cameron replied. Possibly misunderstanding the application process she was referring to.

And why was she suddenly picturing Cam covered in chocolate pudding. Isabel shook her head, the school was definitely getting to her. "No you dork, I meant to the Academy."

"Oh! I thought you meant the moose," Cameron blushed. "I'm still waiting for word back. Which apparently should happen somewhere in August."

"You'll tell me when you hear something?"
