Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

[Yes, the schoolgrounds have snow. I'm weathermodding and saying it's cool enough today through this evening for it to stick, and it'll melt overnight. And yes, we're having Festivus in July. For those not in the know, here is a handy Wiki link! Please wait for OCD. Up, yay!]

The California of six years ago had snow...once. Granted there was a winter full of it this year, but snow in July is different. It's more like... well, snow in Sunnydale.

Xander grins and pulls his jacket a little tighter, since his coat was buried at the bottom of his trunk and he'd decided not to dig it out.

"This is weird," he says, scooping up a handful of snow. "But good weird, I think."

"Definitely good weird," Bridge agrees with a nod. "Bad weird would be snowmonsters again."

Xander coughs. "I kinda missed most of the snowmonsters. I was there when they started attacking, but then got...otherwise engaged."

"Reeeeally?" Bridge says, raising one eyebrow at Xander and idly forming a snowball.

And that is what Bridge hears, at first. But then he remembers that Xander doesn't even *have* a cellphone. He goes over that sentence again in his head and... oh.

He totally does not laugh. He does, however, gently lob the snowball in Xander's direction.

Xander stares at him for a second, then laughs so loudly it probably scares the penguins. If there are penguins. It seems like there should be, somehow.

"And *now* who's mean?" Bridge says, crossing his arms and looking over at Xander pointedly. Yes, it's possible he may have tried to elicit that reaction on purpose.

Xander can't stop chortling, but he's trying. "So - hee - sorry. Dunno what came over me. You are totally badass."

This one, though, he's prepared for, and fends off with one arm. Followed by scooping up a handful of snow to make his own snowball and lobbing at Bridge.

"Ack!" Bridge flails as the snowball hits him in the nose.

Xander is also totally badass, and does not immediately look concerned and ask, "Are you ok?"

"M'face is all cold now," Bridge points out, brushing a bit of snow off.

"Oh no. That is terrible," Xander says in melodramatic tones. "Whatever shall we do?"

"Well, perhaps if there were someone willing to warm me up..." Bridge says. "But I don't know where I would find someone, on such short notice."

"Hrrm. Yeah, that could be tough." Xander looks around to see if there's anybody available. "John's here - he might be willing." Xander makes as if to wave him over.

Bridge looks as if he is considering it. "Aeryn might kill me, marriage proposal notwithstanding," he says, finally. "I guess that means you're stuck with the task."

"Well, I guess I could..." Xander sounds like it's a moment of extreme self-sacrifice. Truly. He even makes a little face, though it's hard to keep that going for very long.

Xander narrows his eyes... then tackles Bridge into the snow. "See, now that? That's more like it."
