Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

[Yes, the schoolgrounds have snow. I'm weathermodding and saying it's cool enough today through this evening for it to stick, and it'll melt overnight. And yes, we're having Festivus in July. For those not in the know, here is a handy Wiki link! ~~Please wait for OCD.~~ Up, yay!]

Molly nodded. "And everyone will be jealous that they don't have a fort - hut - as awesome as ours."

"Once we get the defense system up, we can probably call it a fort," John says thoughtfully. "Because then it'll be fortified!"

Molly grinned and then looked thoughtful. "If we have Bridge make our defense system, does that mean it would shoot candy?"

"...that would be awesome!" John nods again. "Messy candy!"

"Oh! Yeah! Like what though?"

"Ice cream?" John suggests.

"Perfect!" Molly said. "It can even shoot ice cream cones, the pointy kind, so that it'll fly better."

"You have a mind for this sort of thing, Molly," John says gleefully.

"Thank you," she said. "You're not so bad at it yourself."

"Shucks, tweren't nothing," John drawls. "And I should never ever do that again."

Molly laughed.

"...we should hire guard too so no one comes and tries to conquer the Hut of Love."

"Is that what it's called? The Hut of Love?" Molly asked.

"That's what I called it in the library," says John. "The Hut of Platonic Love to be exact."

"Okay. That's a good name," Molly said. "And we definitely need guards. Who should we get?"

"Big burly people or...my girlfriend. She could take out an armada by just glaring at them."

"We should get Charlie to be a guard. He's burly. Wouldn't you rather have Aeryn inside the hut?"

"...yeah," John says and scowls at himself. "I don't know why I suggested her outside in the first place."

"You were probably just thinking of the scariest person you know," Molly said reassuringly.

"True," he says and shrugs one shoulder. "Okay, Charlie. Peter Pevensie? He's got a sword!"

"Oh, yeah," Molly said. "Peter has that hero thing going for him. He'd be a good defender. How many do you think we need?"

"Four. Two during the day, two at night," John guesses. "And maybe one alternate if one of the guards has a date or is sick or something."

"We can make Cam be a guard too," Molly said decisively. "Then, you can use him as a decoy if it becomes necessary."

"Oh, good call," John agrees. "He's bait!"

Molly grinned. "Exactly. So, who else do we want as a guard?"
