Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

[Yes, the schoolgrounds have snow. I'm weathermodding and saying it's cool enough today through this evening for it to stick, and it'll melt overnight. And yes, we're having Festivus in July. For those not in the know, here is a handy Wiki link! Please wait for OCD. Up, yay!]

"They're tiny! I mean, Rory's brother is small, but they're *really* tiny?" Parker tilted her head and grinned. "I love the bow. Adds that Hopeless-Savage je nais sais quoi to it. I am much less grievy, now."

"I think it's 'cause there were two of 'em in there. BB weighed five pounds, eleven ounces, and Bru weighed six pounds, four ounces. But they're growing like weeds, Arsenal says. She also says I have to get home and see them soon or else."

"Or else... they'll come here?" Parker grinned. "Stay. Stay a long time. Force them to visit. I want to meet them. Also? I never win the pool on what your next hair-color will be. You so should be giving me insider tips on that."

"Actually, her exact threat was, 'Or else I'll send Twitch and Rat to kidnap you in a rug.' So. Yeh."

"Oh, sometimes I don't even decide until after I've bleached it...there's a pool??" Zero looked more amused than anything else.

"A rug? Heee. That would be... okay, that would be entertaining, especially if people tried to stop them. We could clean up on the Pay-Per-View." She grinned widely. "And if there isn't a pool, there should be. Whenever we hear you've changed your hair, there's at least a half-hour discussion while we try to remember all the previous colors, and lay odds on what the new one will be."

"It's a family tradition. Well, it all depends on whether or not I can beg or bribe someone into an icon I was thinkin' about red, next. But red, red, not normal red."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course. I think it'll look good on you, really. And woo! I can clean up on the pool now!" Parker faked sadness. "I have no more grievances. Alas. And I'm still growing. I'm five-nine-and-a-half now." She grinned. "Want more cookies to assuage your grievance?"

Zero pouted. "I haven' grown since I was thirteen. But cookies would make it better, yes please."

Parker handed over a snowman cookie, a Christmas tree, a dreidel, and one that looked like a Yule log. "Happy Festivus. Which is a new one on me. I thought I knew all the winter holidays, but whatever. How go your workshops?"

"Y'know what's missing from this table? Duck. Which is probably for the best." Zero bit the head off the snowman. "Documentary workshop's apparently been cancelled an' the teachers didn' think to tell me, which doesn' surprise me from what I've heard of 'em. Got fake-kidnapped by Bridge the other day, and that screen acting frimp's a bit odd, y'know?"

Re: Food!

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Parker considered the kind of ducks they had in Fandom, and shuddered. "I coudln't agree more. And they cancelled? Gah. Wait, that was the guys from the Kwik-Stop, right? Yeah, that's not a shock. Although it does suck for you." She took another bite of gingerbread, smirking. "I saw that in Scoobying. Did you see Sakurazaki *fly*? I had no idea she could do that. Shocked the hell out of me. And wait, who's the screen acting... frimp?"

"No! I was blindfolded. Squall, I miss all the swerval stuff. The teacher. She's blonde, always takin' notes. Daisy somethin'. Adair, I think."

Re: Food!

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, she is a teacher," Parker pointed out. "In theory, she could be grading you? Or evaluating you? But this is Fandom, so...."

"I find it's easier to assume she's weird. That way when she turns into a horde of vampire squirrels or somethin', I'm not surprised."

Re: Food!

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Parker snickered. "Right. Daisy Adair, blonde, weird, so noted. I wish you were in Liars class with me, you could've seen Ranma turn into a girl when I dumped an iced tea on him."

"You would think. But no, he's under some kind of curse? Some day he has to find a pond in China to get rid of it. Until then, cold-water girl, hot-water-boy. Like Cheer, only with gender-switching." She looked thoughtful. "Okay, I think I've passed blase' into some new weird territory when it comes to the oddness of my fellow students."

"I wish him luck. China's big. An' I think at this point the really weird thing would be someone perfectly normal."

Re: Food!

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Parker really tried to think of someone completely normal, and while Rory mostly qualified, there was the genius thing; and Angela might have been closer, except, hello, semi-psychic. "Hmmmm. You know, I can't name one completely normal student? Even me. My life's too weird, even though *I'm* normal." She shook her head, then grinned at Zero. "Which applies equally to you, by other people's standards."
swerval_zero: (Default)

Re: Food!

[personal profile] swerval_zero 2006-07-29 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Zero laughed. "I'm normal? Squall. I'll have to fix that."

Re: Food!

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Mmmm. We need to get special powers, or destinies, or abilities, or..." She raised an eyebrow. "Possibly tattoos?"

"Well, there was that thing where I was the Library's minion, but it's over now. Thank squall. I have the ability to annoy Twitch a lot? Psht, tattoos. I have two."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
"That's true. And I've been possessed a couple times, but it never lasted." Parker grinned. "Okay, now you're ahead of me. I have a new grievance. I don't think I've seen them, either. *Another* grievance."

"S'because one of 'em's on my thigh," Zero said. "I'll show you that one some time when I'm wearin' a skirt. An' the other one's between my shoulder blades. Here." She turned her back to Parker and pulled out her collar so Parker could see the tattoo in question. "It's supposed to be a Tibetan protection mark or somethin'. 'Course, it doesn't actually do anythin'. I got it after the zombies."

Re: Food!

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Parker studied it and said, "It's very pretty, even if it doesn't do anything. What's the other one of?" She looked thoughtful and added, "If I *did* get one, it would probably have to be tiny. Tatts aren't exactly corporate style."
