Festivus in July, Fandom High front lawn, Friday afternoon

Sometime during morning workshops, when no one was paying nearly enough attention except those concerned, the Fandom High schoolgrounds had filled with snow.

For the record, "those concerned" meant Rory Gilmore and several dozen snow cone distributors from the mainland. But who wants to ruin the illusion? Students who were curious might assume that it was simply a Festivus in July miracle, or some such.

In the middle of the lawn stood a bare, aluminum pole. Festivus tradition, you know.

[Yes, the schoolgrounds have snow. I'm weathermodding and saying it's cool enough today through this evening for it to stick, and it'll melt overnight. And yes, we're having Festivus in July. For those not in the know, here is a handy Wiki link! ~~Please wait for OCD.~~ Up, yay!]

"You've claimed Festivus as the second holiday of the oil, hmm?" Peter said with a grin,

"I share my holiday of oil with all," Willow replied, grinning back. "I'm not greedy. Not about that anyway."

"Those of us who aren't God's Chosen are certainly appreciative," Peter said. "Though I think that does remind me of a grievance."

"Oh?" Willow asked, looking curious.

"Well, without Christmas decorations, there isn't any mistletoe," Peter said sadly. "This truly is very sad."

"Why would that be - oh!" Willow blushed when she figured it out. "You're right. That is very, very sad."

Peter laughed warmly. "Because if there were mistletoe, I'd have to ask you to dance. And then we'd end up in the corner where the mistletoe was hanging somehow. Not that I'd have any idea how. But now? No mistletoe. Just a pole."

Willow smiled at him, rather besottedly. "And what would happen then? If there was mistletoe and not a pole?"

Peter demonstrated. Because words were superfluous for that one.

Willow gave a happy sigh and kissed him back, quite agreeing with his assessment.

"See? One could hardly argue over the addition of mistletoe," Peter said, smiling.

"I certainly wouldn't," Willow said, rubbing her nose against his.

Peter took advantage of her closeness to steal another kiss.

"Hey," Willow said, giggling and not at all really protesting. "Give that back."

"Nope," Peter said, giggling as well. "I've rightfully stolen it."

"Maybe I should steal it back then," Willow said, leaning closer in readiness to pounce.

"Maybe you should," Peter replied, leaning back the barest hair.

"I just might," Willow said, leaning closer.

"Actions speak louder than words," Peter pointed out.

Willow decided to test that by pouncing and smooching.

Which Peter had been expecting (or hoping for rather). But he was the slightest bit off-balance so there was also flailing as he tried to prevent them from falling backwards.

Willow clutched at him. Which actually didn't help with the falling so much as guarantee that if he fell, she'd go with him.

And that might have been the straw to break the camel's back so to speak as he rolled backwards, ending up with him on his back in the snow. Laughing, he managed to say "ha, my nefarious plan worked!"

Willow laughed as she lay on top of him. "Planned to fall, did you?"

"I kept you from stealing your kiss back!" Peter pointed out. "Thus victory!"
