Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were chairs and tables set up all across the lawn; some were by the bonfire, for the people who wanted to be warm and central to everything else at the picnic, and some were set farther away from the action, for the people who wanted more peace and quiet.

There was no escaping the glitter though. Sorry, but not really.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Qui-Gon had offered precious little guidance as to what he should do when he arrived at his destination - in fact, his old master had been preciously, predictably cryptic about anything to do with this island at all. (It almost made him miss Qui-Gon less.) Still, Obi-Wan had come here for a reason. Now it was up to him to divine what it was.

There had been commotion here, in this park. Usually trouble tended to appear where the people were, and usually trouble was where Obi-Wan was meant to be.

It was a crowd, though. After months in the desert by himself - and remembering the last time he had been among a crowd - Obi-Wan had mixed feelings on that matter. He tucked his hands into the sleeves of his robe and pressed onward, searching for whatever it is that was meant to draw him here.

So far, the only trouble he kept bumping into were hormonal teenagers.

Though perhaps that was trouble enough.

Edward loved this time of year. There was so much bloody food.

So of course he was out by the picnic table, collecting his fair share and then some.

Glitter on black clothing was a huge pain, and Four was distracted from his chocolate cake with his efforts to get it off of his leather jacket.

Mara's eyes were a little wide as the Force thrummed around her enough to notice Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kriffing Kenobi having a tense conversation half a park away from her.

She was going to stay over here.

Escaping the glitter? The glitter did not strike fear in Cassandra's heart.

Perhaps she thought glaring at it very hard would keep it from adhering to her armor.

Whatever the case, at least she was out of reasons to bellow at or for anyone - for the time being. She sat, her armor clinking as she did.

Elsa had meant to come to the picnic just long enough to meet her new younger sibling, and word from Barry about the possibility that she'd run into Anna had her a little more jumpy than usual. But the fresh air was good for both her and Canute, and she thought that maybe she could let him run for a little bit, along the edges of the picnic.

She was starting to realize her strategic error in being won over by a dog who was bred for endurance. Maybe she could steer him toward the park, away from all of the people, instead? And then she could head to the library for her shift there, no harm, no foul.

Jalian was here, curious to meet new people.

Of course, within five minutes she had smudges of glitter all over, and was contemplating leaving to take a shower. The chief argument against that was the fact showers didn't seem to make much difference.

So, she was drinking black coffee and sniffing out food without meat or too much sugar.

Celia, swathed in a warm cloak (that was a bit enhanced in its warmth, because she was -- as always -- an enormous cheater), as well as multiple petticoats for extra, non-cheating warmth, found herself a spot a bit away from the crowd to people-watch.

This picnic marked a full year that she'd been here. It was almost dizzying, when she actually stopped to consider that. And that was why she kind of needed some peace and quiet -- it was a good time for reflection, even in the middle of a picnic full of new students.

Plus she wanted to give them a moment before they spotted a girl in clothes a century and a half out of date. She tended act as walking culture-shock at these things, she'd found.

Rapunzel had actually worn the shoes Barry gave her today -- because cold -- and found herself a spot near the fire to stay a little warmer.

And as much as she wanted to see the new kids, she was cold enough that people were gonna have to come to her -- or, at least, she was going to just quietly watch from the coziness of her hair. It helped that she didn't like dragging all seventy feet of it all over the place in crowds like these, too, and honestly, there were enough people here that she'd probably be finding her way back to her room sooner rather than later.

But still! New kids!

Cecil was still staying pretty close to the fire. Foucault had joined him, though, and with the insulating feathers, he could get a little further away and still be warm.

Plus, feathers and fire didn't really mix very well.

He had hot cocoa with lots of marshmallows in it, and was looking open and friendly.

Hannibal was sipping from his own thermos cup and leaning on one of the tables to watch everybody. It was always interesting to see the new people.

But mingling he could do! He just stood looking as approachable as possible.

Alana was in an unusually good mood as she got to the welcome picnic, wings hidden for the moment under her winter cloak. It was nice to see everybody again after two weeks at home, and the fact new people were involved made the event even better.

She made a plate of nachos and took it over to a picnic table where she could sit and check out the new people. (Maybe there'd even be somebody from the Coalition, though 18 months in she wasn't holding her breath on that one.)

Apparently, this picnic was going to go on for days on end. His phone had gone off a few times during this whole thing and, without even looking, Ronan knew it was Gansey checking in.

Checking to make sure he was still there.

Ronan found himself missing Henriette and Monmouth. He was too far away from the Barns and his mother. His jaw tightened and he squared his shoulders. He'd bail if this thing got much worse.

Maybe. Probably. If he could stop Gansey from finding out.

Sparkle, as student body president (that would never not be weird) was here to do his duty to greet the new kids.

Anders had unintentionally brushed a branch loaded with glitter (how?) with the tip of his staff, and as a result had a head covered in shiny stuff.

The first picnic of the year was off to a smashing start.

He tried to shake the glitter out of his hair and succeeded mostly in dispersing the sparkles all over his clothes before he sighed and gave up.

At least there was food. He was going to take as many cookies as he could manage as consolation.

These picnics never got any less awkward feeling for Nathan. Even though he wasn't all bundled up like he was once was, he still felt more comfortable staying on the fringes and making sure no one from his world arrived.

Travis was trying to ignore the glitter on his shoulders. It wasn't the first piece of clothing that had been stained with glitter since being here. He pulled his jacket up around his scar instinctively and wandered around the picnic.

By now Amy was beginning to get overwhelmed with all the socializing and introductions, and it only showed on her face a lot.

She decided now was the time to help herself to food - a lot of it - in the hopes that having her mouth full would stave off unwanted social contact. It wasn't the kind of thing Karma or Shane would let her get away with if they were around, but then again they didn't have access to this much free coconut shrimp.

Flick was pretty used to these picnics by now. He still wasn't going to jump right in and socialize with everyone but coming out there and hanging out was still something he wouldn't have done when he'd first gotten there.

He had some water and was set up by the bonfire to keep warm.

So, Anna's original goal had been to come to this picnic and befriend absolutely every person at it. Which was still a good and worthy goal, and all. But apparently Elsa was here, and not her Elsa but still Elsa, somehow, except Elsa didn't want to talk to her, or something about it being complicated, which meant it was still fairly Elsa.

It was somewhat dampening her mood. Luckily, she discovered the chocolate fountain, which did wonders for brightening things back up.

Okay! Goal: to make all of the friends humanly possible, today, and to avoid her not-sister for reasons that weren't entirely clear.

Did this picnic have these fountains often? Could she get one, like. For her room? Because that would be phenomenal.
