Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were chairs and tables set up all across the lawn; some were by the bonfire, for the people who wanted to be warm and central to everything else at the picnic, and some were set farther away from the action, for the people who wanted more peace and quiet.

There was no escaping the glitter though. Sorry, but not really.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Do you want my coat?" Edward asked promptly. "I can lend it to you, if you like."

And then he'd be cold, but he was used to it.

"But then you'll be cold!" Rapunzel protested. "It's okay, I've got my hair, I'm just not used to, like, winter. Outside winter, I mean. Are you having fun looking at the new kids?"

She hadn't mustered up the courage to go talk to any, yet. Even if she was kind of blaming it on the cold, anyway.

"There's some pretty girls in this batch," Edward said. "I'm not goin' near the one with a face like a storm cloud, though." He waved vaguely towards the robed figure standing next to the oddly stone-faced-looking woman. "The teachers don't seem like a boring lot this time around, either."

"There's pretty girls in every batch, Edward," Rapunzel sighed fondly, because seriously, this place was like a magnet for cute people. (She seemed to be the exception, if you asked her, actually.) She craned her neck to look at the girl he was indicating, and winced. "Yeah, but she looks kind of mean. I mean, I'd be...careful. She looks like she'd take a couple teeth for smiling at her."

"Just because they're in every batch doesn't mean they shouldn't go appreciated," Edward said, grinning. "Surely there's some lads you're appreciating yourself."

"Oh sure, there's a couple of cute new boys, sure," Rapunzel agreed, her cheeks heating slightly in a blush. "And lots of pretty girls, like you said. Kind of a tiny batch, this time, in any case. We had a lot more people come in with us, right?"

That was how she remembered it, anyway.

"I believe so," Edward said, "Though that was such a long, long, long time ago. My memory may be impaired."

Yes, sure, last summer was a long time ago. "Things looked different from that perspective. For example, perhaps this lot's looking at us going 'jaysus, they're pretty'."
