Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were chairs and tables set up all across the lawn; some were by the bonfire, for the people who wanted to be warm and central to everything else at the picnic, and some were set farther away from the action, for the people who wanted more peace and quiet.

There was no escaping the glitter though. Sorry, but not really.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"We can still lie. Tell them about days where everyone turns into David Hasselhoff or something," Johnny suggested.

Gwen paused.

"Do we know that doesn't happen?"

"Everyone can't turn into Hasselhoff. Some people, sure. But not everyone," Johnny suggested.

Gwen was just going to look at him doubtfully.

~~Because everyone SHOULD turn into Hasselhoff, dammit.~~

"Look, some things I just refuse to believe until it happens," Johnny said.

"See, here's the problem, though, now I kind of want it to happen," Gwen admitted. Moreover, she wanted it to happen to everyone besides her.

"If I find out that you tried to learn magic to turn people into Hasselhoff, I'm going to laugh at you until you stop. That's a promise," Johnny said.

"Isn't that what everyone does on their Christmas vacation?" Gwen deadpanned.

"I tried to make a robot Hasselhoff, personally," Johnny said.

"How'd that go?" she asked.

"He's my robot butler now. ROBOHOFF, TO ME, NOW!" Johnny called out. "Just wait a minute. I'm sure he just needs to slow motion run through the crowd."

"I'll have my camera ready," Gwen said, not getting her phone. "So what else did you do?"

That part at least was a serious question.

"Not much," Johnny said. "I hung out with Sue back home, did a little superheroing, came back here and had a quiet time."

"Sounds kinda great," she said. "I just hung out with Aunt May and Peter and MJ."

Separately, in the case of the last two. Seriously, she left town and everybody broke up.

"I need to give them a call next time I'm back in town," Johnny said. "I haven't hung out with them in two forevers."

"It's sounding kinda complicated right now," Gwen said. "I mean, you should, but maybe check with Peter first if you two should hang out separately."

"Why... Oh, did they break up or something?" Johnny asked.

And in his world, Peter was now dating Gwen. Awkward.

And in Gwen's, that wasn't happening.

"Yeeeeah. I mean, it's them, so I'm sure they're gonna end up back together, but it's a little awkward so yeah, maybe check first," Gwen advised.

"Thanks for the tip," Johnny said. "Although with the time gap, they're probably back together already."

"Crossing my fingers," Gwen said, actually doing that, "Because it's weird."

"Are either of them dating anyone else yet? Because I can't... Actually, I guess I can imagine that. Pete and Kitty Pryde had a thing that I completely missed one time. It explains why she wasn't into me that time we teamed up, though," Johnny mentioned.

"Not unless there's something secret they haven't told me about," Gwen said. "And I didn't now about Peter and Kitty either. By the time I found out about that, Kitty was with Kong, and it was right before they broke up because she's still totally in love with Peter... Teenagers, man."

"See, this is why I don't date one person at a time. That's too complicated. Make out with pretty much everyone, be honest about it, what can go wrong?" Johnny asked. Granted, he was kind of dating one person right now. Kind of.

"This is why I don't date." Or because no one had really jumped out at her. Figuratively.

"Opposite ends of the spectrum, both doing it right," Johnny nodded.
