Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were chairs and tables set up all across the lawn; some were by the bonfire, for the people who wanted to be warm and central to everything else at the picnic, and some were set farther away from the action, for the people who wanted more peace and quiet.

There was no escaping the glitter though. Sorry, but not really.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You can," Face agreed. "Though you should at least wait until the picnic's over. Avoid wasting the free food."

Exactly. Hanna nodded back at him solemnly, and took another salty thing. "It doesn't seem dangerous." By which she meant, government or military oversight and control. But how could she be sure? "...why are you here?" Knowing that might help.

"It's quiet here," Face said. "Out of the way." He scratched at where his scar puckered his cheek, curious to see if she'd pick up on the subtext.

Hanna had about zero context for subtext, really. She did poke her head out a little more, and ask with concern and curiosity, "Does that still hurt?"

Face shook his head. "No, the nerve damage got fixed ages ago." Wonderful stuff, bacta.

Hanna nodded consideringly, studying the scars without any evidence of distaste. "Those aren't from an animal. Or a knife fight," she surmised. "Something else."

Ahh. Wait. Was that why he was here? Recuperating?

"Either an animal attack or a vibroblade fight would sound more badass than than a stray blaster bolt to the face," Face said.

Recuperating, sure, that sounded batter than lying low after faking his death.

Hanna winced, tilting her head a little, then shook her head. "I am not familiar with 'blasters'," she said, "but I think you are possibly lucky you were not blinded, or worse."

Well, the death faking hadn't exactly been planned. "Probably, they weren't exactly aiming at me."

Though maybe he would've been safer if they had, all things considered.

"Oh." Hanna put her plate on the bench now, considering that. Still nibbling. "Do they know you are here?"

Because if not, then maybe. Maaaybe, perhaps, it would be safe to stay?

"Nope," he replied. "Like I said, it's quiet and out of the way here."

Hanna rested her chin on her arms, and then said, "I would like to be quiet for a while. To be where it's quiet."

"This is definitely a good place for quiet," Face said. "Or at least, when it's noisy, it's not directed at anyone." Because weird island was weird.

More nibbling. And thinking. Quiet.

And finally, "Thank you. I appreciate the help." She smiled a little. "My name is Hanna."

"Garik," Face said, smiling back. "Most people call me Face, though."

"Face." Hanna nodded. "It's very nice to meet you."
