Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were chairs and tables set up all across the lawn; some were by the bonfire, for the people who wanted to be warm and central to everything else at the picnic, and some were set farther away from the action, for the people who wanted more peace and quiet.

There was no escaping the glitter though. Sorry, but not really.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

". . . How would a day get canceled? And wouldn't you still be sixteen the day after that, anyway? You'd still have gone around the sun that many times, right?"

"I'm really not sure if it works like that," Cecil said doubtfully.

"But we haven't had any cancelled days at all here yet, so I'm sure it'll be fine!"

"Maybe?" Cecil shrugged. "I never took logic."

"What did you study in Night Vale?"

"Oh, um...radio, of course. And Evocation, English, Modified Sumerian, Home Ec..." He shrugged. "All sorts of things!"

"A language." Cecil gave her a puzzled look. "Don't they have that where you come from?"

"I've heard of Sumerian. Sort of." It popped up in adventure stories sometimes. "It's a really old language no one talks any more."

"Really? Nobody?" Cecil blinked. "What about Spanish, do they still speak that?"

"Oh, good!" Cecil smiled. "I was worried none of my languages would be any good. Well, except English obviously." That was what they were speaking, right?

As far as Raven knew. But there were likely several folks on the island who'd disagree.

"Do you use Sumerian a lot in Night Vale?"

"A bit." Cecil shrugged. "Not as much as Spanish, but it's good to be able to read the city council minutes."
