Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II
There were chairs and tables set up all across the lawn; some were by the bonfire, for the people who wanted to be warm and central to everything else at the picnic, and some were set farther away from the action, for the people who wanted more peace and quiet.
There was no escaping the glitter though. Sorry, but not really.
[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
She decided now was the time to help herself to food - a lot of it - in the hopes that having her mouth full would stave off unwanted social contact. It wasn't the kind of thing Karma or Shane would let her get away with if they were around, but then again they didn't have access to this much free coconut shrimp.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
"Goodness, did they starve you where you were before?" Ezra noted in a lightly amused tone, with a smile.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
Her mouth quirked up in what was part of the way to a smile. "Hi, I'm Amy."

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
She couldn't help smiling back. His smile made it hard not to, and he seemed like a direct enough guy, which made conversation easier.
"How about you? Are you new too? I don't think I saw you on the bus."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
Which basically amounted to: "You didn't miss much."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
"Doesn't sound like it, no," he agreed. "And besides, you're here now, so I'm already making up for all the actually important things I missed."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
"Wh - me?" Yes, obviously. "Oh, um, you know, I think the guy who was on fire was actually higher up there, importance-wise."
Guess who had never been casually flirted with before!
"You also missed a girl who had never seen cell phones before," she added. "That was weird."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
Since his best friend tended to make that happen.
"No, I think my scale of importance was exactly right."

"It is, or close enough," he confirmed. "At least, I've been here eight months and I've never seen them run out. Maker knows what they do with the extra."
He took a careful bite of the first shrimp. "Oh this isgood," he said, barely remembering to swallow before he did.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
She took pleasure in imagining Lauren's reaction to the vast array of empty calories.
"I'm Amy, by the way," she added, realizing she hadn't covered that yet. "Sorry, most human manners probably encourage introducing yourself before offering to share food with someone."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
He was joking. Kind of. But Fandom did seem to encourage a certain amount of getting straight to the point that wasn't always expected at home.
"Where are you coming from, Amy?"
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
She guessed it could explain the clothes, but she would have expected someone British to be more of a stickler for etiquette.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
That was Amy putting it generously.
"What's Ferelden like?"
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
He slanted his eyes toward the Seeker girl. "Is that the girl in armor's name? Cassandra?"

And then she remembered that she was a cynic and immediately became immensely fed up with everything that was going on. Whatever was going on.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
Had there been some kind of hallucinogen at the lounge? Was she actually wandering in circles at a perfectly nice boarding school in Corona, talking to like trees and branches? Because that seemed like a way more logical answer, right now.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
All this was starting to give Amy a headache. She shook her head.
"She looks like your sister but she doesn't remember you coming here, and your actual sister is still back home," she summarized. "That is seriously fucked up."
Again with the potty mouth!
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
Anna shook her head. "That does sound seriously -- whatever you just said."
Her big sibling was Barry Ween. She'd probably be swearing like a champ inside the month.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2015]
"Well, however it happened, at least there's good news," Amy offered. "It's seriously hard to ignore a sibling when you go to the same school. Trust me, I've tried. So you might end up getting your quality time after all."
