Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were chairs and tables set up all across the lawn; some were by the bonfire, for the people who wanted to be warm and central to everything else at the picnic, and some were set farther away from the action, for the people who wanted more peace and quiet.

There was no escaping the glitter though. Sorry, but not really.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Someone looks thrilled to be here."

Go away, Ezra, no one wanted your idle observations.

But he was going to offer them anyway, light in tone, a mug of something warm in his hand.

"You're hilarious," Ronan said, faking a laugh because he knew he looked anything but thrilled. "Where can I learn how to be a comedian like you?"

"The deep, dark underworld," Ezra quipped, nodding sagely before straightening his suit. "It'll cost a pretty penny, but it's worth it in the end."

"Good thing I could really care less about being funny," Ronan said, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. "I'll leave that to you since you're so good at it. Let you have that one good thing."

Ezra held up his hands. "Okay, sweetheart," he said. "I was just initiating conversation."

"Not your sweetheart," he grumbled, almost glaring. "Is everyone here overly social and friendly?"

This time, Ezra only held one hand up.

"I know I am," he said. "Can't speak for everyone else yet, because I haven't been around long enough. But I take it you're not."

"You take it right." Ronan crossed his arms and his posture stiffened, if that was even possible. "I don't see the point. It's all fake words and faker smiles."

"Or it's relating to people and maybe, I don't know, attempting to enjoy yourself?" Ezra suggested, eyeing him like he wasn't sure if he was for real or not. "You know, fun?"

"Who said I'm not having fun right now?" Oh, probably everything about your being, Ronan. "I don't look positively thrilled to be here?"

"Well, I said you did when I arrived, and you accused me of being hilarious."

Also he looked almost tense enough to break something.

"That's an accusation?" Ronan wondered, raising an eyebrow. "Figured you'd take it as a compliment."

"Oh, I even consider it highly accurate," Ezra confirmed with a nod. "But I prefer it with less scorn."

"What, you've never heard the phrase 'take it where you can get it?'" Ronan wondered. "I don't care about your preferences either."

Ezra heaved a heavy sigh. "Okay, before you pop a blood vessel or I start feeling my enjoyment of the day waning, I'm going to have to bid you adieu."

"Oh, so soon?" Ronan asked sarcastically. "And here I thought things were going so well."

"Goodbye, darling," Ezra drawled as he turned. "Try not to miss me too much."

That definitely wouldn't be a problem. Ronan said nothing in return. Just went back to standing there stiffly.
