Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Were you a veteran Fandom resident? Did you finish getting your brain broken by your sibling and/or buddy? Did you just want to sit down to recover from the shuttle ride? If so, then there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn just waiting to be filled!

[This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Edward didn't know what his roommate had been up to these past few days, but it had seemed remarkably quieter in the evenings, which was what he cared about. In fact, this meant that he was in a relentlessly good mood when he got to the picnic that morning, snagging some of the more decadent-looking edibles before collapsing in a seat at the heart of the group.

Karolina had left last week.

It had not put Liara in anything remotely resembling a good mood today. She went to the picnic because it was a part of the necessary social niceties of Fandom - but she perched even further outside of the main area as possible, sipping her water quietly and looking moody.

Sigh. Perhaps she should not have come back.

Evie hadn't heard anything about a dress code for Fandom, so she'd chosen her 'first day of school' outfit the same way she would as if she were still attending Sterling. Sure, she'd been convinced that most of the people here had maybe a nodding acquaintance with sanity at best (and that belief had only been reinforced by most of her conversations so far), but surely there had to be a few people here who could at least pass for normal for the duration of a conversation?

...Anybody?

In the olden days, knights had armor. Evie had a Chloé baby-blue sleeveless dress with the hem no more than four regulation inches above her knees, a pair of black Miu Miu ankle-wrap heels, a Patek Phillippe wristwatch, and her old diamond earrings, which felt both familiar and strange back in her ears after three months without them in the CLC. It didn't matter if there wasn't a single person on this island who would recognize designer clothing or even the names on the tags. She felt like she could handle anything wearing this.

Right now, though, she was trying to handle lunch. How had they managed to get real, proper, Southern barbeque this far north? And how was she supposed to eat it and not get sauce all over her namebrand everything?

Kathy didn't have a younger sibling this time, but she was very, very aware of how intimidating the picnics could be with all the food and glitter and talking pink ponies. So after piling a plate high with food, she staked out a spot at a table where she could keep an eye out for anyone who looked a little lost, confused, or lonely.

And maybe in a few days, she'd realize just how different she was from her first picnic, when the idea of just randomly talking to someone would have made her flail.

After meeting his little sib, Barry settled down in a comfortable spot and was attempting to get caught up on some of his experiments that he should have been taken care of this week. Unfortunately his antics had cost him time and time had in turn ruined some of the results. He'd have to start with scratch with this one... this one... that one. Ugh. What a mess.

Face had found the buffet tables, and while he mightn't recognise specific dishes, finger food was apparently universal, and he was willing to bet that these would be more to a teenage boy's taste than what was served up at holodrama premieres to impress the Imperial elite.

It was a picnic so Emma was doing what she usually did, find one of the food tables off tot he side and start squirreling away anything that'd keep.

Seeing the food was like an oasis in the desert. Travis immediately gravitated towards it and took a few things to eat and drink before going back out and wandering around.

Yeah, he was mostly here for the food. The plate that was piled high on the ground beside him probably attested to that pretty well.

Look, you have a buffet table with chocolate on it, and what you're going to end up with is an Arendelle princess with a plate of carefully arranged fudge and brownies and cookies, attempting to eat them with a fork.

With a fork.

Because it wouldn't do to get any on her gloves, and Elsa wasn't going to be taking those off any time soon, thank you.

Tamsin wasn't school security and technically didn't need to be here, but considering what had happened just a couple of weeks ago-- well, she wanted to know if any of the newbies were going to be a pain in the ass at some point in the future.

Possibly while brainwashed into something evil.

So there she was, standing at the edge of the picnic with a set of sunglasses on and her badge in plain sight. Arms crossed, looking bored and slightly pissed-- her resting face.

Flick had lost count of how many of these picnics he'd been through by now. And it still surprised him that he'd thought he'd go through one and then leave but he was still here.

So, he was going to take advantage by eating some of the free food and enjoying the warm day. He gave passing glances to some of the new kids when he saw them.

After discovering his continued inability to leave the island earlier, Nathan hadn't been in the best of moods during the week. He'd managed to make some progress during his attempts at reading yesterday but nothing that would have him reading novels anytime soon.

He took some time away from that to come down to the picnic, though. It got him outside and also gave him the opportunity to check everyone out, see if there were Hunters of White Witches or even Black Witches around. He assumed they'd all be fain but always safe to check.

Hatter had never been out to one of these so he was definitely going to come out today. What better way to see all the tiny oysters and take advantage of all the free goodies this island offered.

He pushed his hat back and leaned against a tree, taking everything in while he sipped some water.

Johnny had come to the conclusion that no, outside of like one person, he wasn't famous here. Of course, he'd made the point to several people that he was and that he was also a superhero, so there went the possibility of a secret identity.

Well, whatever. He wouldn't do well with one anyway. Instead, he was just going to hang out, enjoy a good old giant orientation picnic, and check out the girls.

Alex had handwavily spent the last week back at Paradise Valley and catching up with her friends there. She had made it back to Fandom late last night, so she decided to spent some time at the picnic and was helping herself to a plate of food.

After meeting his little sibling, Four treated himself with a big slice of chocolate cake and tried to pretend like that amount of food still didn't shock him.

...he wasn't as good at the second part.

Mara got a plate of food to blend in with the rest of the crowd and tried to inconspicuously memorize all the new faces between bites of...something. She didn't recognize anything on the plate but so far nothing had wiggled off of it or made it hard to breathe, so she was considering it a win.

Yes, free food day! Felicity was all over this.

She was not, however, all over the heat. She put up with enough of this in Vegas and she could not wait until fall.

Therefore she was picking a shady spot under a tree to eat her free food.

Only free food could pull Isaac out of his "maybe if I don't talk to anybody they won't die on me" funk. He was still staying at the edges of the place, but at least he was doing shy lurking instead of creepy lurking.

Creepy lurking was a whole other vibe.

Kaylin was a little tired, a little homesick, and a lot bruised after a week back in Elantra training with the Hawks and helping out at a particularly difficult birth. She'd been able to steal some time to play with the children at the Foundling Home, though, which always lifted her spirits.

She was happy to have access to all this food, because she honestly didn't think she'd eaten more than a couple of meals all week.

Despite the warmth, she was in her usual long sleeved tunic to make sure none of the marks on her arms or neck were showing, but she was doing her best to look more... approachable?

Dani had been out for a ride on Kally, but she decided to make a stop at the picnic. It couldn't hurt to see if any of the new kids were drawn to horses. She could always uses extra help at The Gig and Kally could use some new friends.

Oh. My. Gosh. NEW FRIENDS. And Minako had just found out that Alex had left and she wasn't getting a new roommate and that meant she had to make friends with the new girls ASAP because SLEEPOVER TIME!!!!!

So there was a cheerful Minako, bouncing around the entire picnic, occasionally stopping to stuff food in her face or pet the grouchy looking white cat that had taken up residence under a tree for a nap. Because Artemis totally wasn't letting her out of his sight on a day with new people around. That would be asking for a Minako disaster.

Kira couldn't say no to free food, but she also felt a little strange being here. A bunch of things had changed since she first got here, and she still wasn't sure how she felt about all of it. She hadn't expected the summer to go by so quickly and clearly the only way to handle all of these feelings was with a carb overload. At least, that's what she was telling herself as she dug into her plate of snack foods.
