Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Were you a veteran Fandom resident? Did you finish getting your brain broken by your sibling and/or buddy? Did you just want to sit down to recover from the shuttle ride? If so, then there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn just waiting to be filled!

[This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Well, he was probably less likely to get stabbed in the behind with a syringe wielded by an angry gremlin, at least.

"There's a joke about steam in there that I'm not even going to attempt to make," Elsa noted, smiling wryly. "But all of that aside, welcome to the island, and if you need any help finding anything or you have any questions about the place, feel free to ask."

"It would get pretty steamy," Johnny said, attempting and succeeding with the joke. "Anyway, you're officially on the list of people to check in with. Thanks for being so welcoming."

She was probably never going to stop blushing. Elsa could live to be an old woman and die happy in her own bed seventy years from now and she'd still have a blush on her face, she was sure of it.

"Of course," she replied. "The island's usually pretty okay, but it can get a little overwhelming from time to time. Knowing that there's somebody around who's been here for a while helps, sometimes."

"I think I should be able to survive most of it. I've already seen and done a ton of things that people here seem surprised by, so I think I'm pretty well equipped to deal with pretty much anything but boyfriends," Johnny joked.

"You say that now," Elsa replied, "but nobody's ever really prepared when they wake up on a Monday morning, look back over the events of the entire weekend, and then have to ask themselves, 'did any of that actually count, since I wasn't actually in my right mind at the time?'"

"You say it like I haven't experienced that," Johnny said. And then he wriggled his eyebrows suggestively. He was just trying to make her blush more now. It was fun.

Johnny was incorrigible. At this rate, Elsa was going to be crawling to hide under a picnic table or something in no time.

"Suddenly and inexplicably spending several days in a row thinking that you're from a time and place where everything is in grayscale and it's perfectly acceptable for a man to call a woman 'Doll,'" she attempted. "Or losing your powers for a while only to find that you're exceptionally talented, all of a sudden, at macrame. That's a little more like what I had in mind. Although I'm certain your own personal experiences are-" she ducked her head a bit as her cheeks went a little more pink, "-interesting, too."

"Well, that's a little different than what I was thinking. But one time I went into the past with my friends to rewrite history when one of those friends came back from the new future to stop us, so trust me, I've seen things," Johnny said. "For the record, the friend from the future got eaten by giant flying spiders that guard the timeline. So don't mess with time travel."

"I... will have to keep that in mind," Elsa decided, eyes going wide. She wasn't going to dismiss talk of time travel out of hand, after all. Not after the insanity that had gone on in the spring. "As far as I can tell, timelines only occasionally manage to break themselves, here. No giant flying spiders yet. Not that I'm aware of."

"If it ever comes up, never touch a past or future version of yourself, just to be safe. That's about all the advice I can possibly give on the subject," Johnny said. "Oh, and don't take microbrewing tips from a zombie version of yourself. It does not go well."

"Like I said, I think I'm ready for whatever comes my way here. It can't be worse than what I've already been through."

He'd probably change his mind about that the first time he woke up looking like a younger Sue.
